This list is meant to be highly mobile with lots of scoring units. Second HQ babysits thanatar casting stuff on him. They hide behind a building and use LOS from a cyber occularis to bomb anything on the table at bs6, -1 to cover saves and successful cover saves have to be re rolled. Draykavac and the 2 triaros charge up the table. Thallax with photon hold back field objectives and take out high T or AV12 stuff. Thallax with meltas deep strike and kill the hard armor. I know the character HQ is a point sink but I love his model and fluff.
So far the only models I have are draykavac, 2 squads of thallax with photon and the thanatar so I can go any direction I want with the army.
HQ
Archmagos draykavac, Abeyant, 4 cyber occularis
Magos dominus, power weapon
Troops
3x thallax, destructor, photon thrusters
3x thallax, destructor, photon thrusters
3x thallax, empyrite, multi melta, melta bombs
3x thallax, empyrite, multi melta, melta bombs
3x thallax, irad cleanser, heavy chainblade
Triaros, blessed autosimulacra
3x thallax, irad cleanser, heavy chainblade
Triaros, blessed autosimulacra
Heavy support
Thanatar, paragon, targeting system

Actually, since the Photon Thruster has Lance, you can theoretically even take out heavy armour with enough concentrated fire (especially with tank hunter).... The multimeltas are a better option, though.
It's not a bad list. Triaros are tough, thallax are fast and really tough, and you've got a good mix of special weapons in there.
The only real weakness thallax have is to S10 blasts - vindicators, or (worse) typhon siege tanks - anything which causes instant death and can blast them out of the cover they like to lurk inside.
TheThanatar is nice. My one comment is that if you're specifically assigning him a 'babysitter', I wouldn't make him Paragon of Metal - because if you do, then you need to be very, very careful about using cybertheurgy on him!
Use a Paragon for a solo, unsupported automata.
If there's a Magos nearby, don't bother, use cybertheurgy at will, and the magos' Battlesmith covers the lack of It Will Not Die.
The one weakness I can see is flak. Autocannon/Heavy Bolter heavy flyers (say a Fire Raptor) can put a nasty dent in a thallax maniple and you have limited means to discourage them. Do you have access to the Icarian upgrage? putting that on the photon thruster thallax gives you decent flak cover across the board, and djinn-sight means your opponent has to be very careful as he can't trust jink to protect him.

Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

The two immediate problems I see is that you'll have very few shots per turn, so you'll have to make every shooting phase count, and you don't have much "punch" in the assault phase, either, to make up for the shooting.
I'm not particularly a fan of photon thrusters, I much prefer plasma fusils for infantry killing. The thruster can work, but it's still just S7.
Like the other poster said, with possession of metal, you don't need a babysitter for the Thanatar, and you definitely don't want to be using cybertheurgy on it.

I don't like icarian much. The whole point of thallax is that they're scoring units. I would be better off just removing the magos dominus and switching a unit of thallax for a lightning fighter.
What would you recommend as far as fixing the low number of shots?
