So I bought a Dkok platoon just before 30k dropped and I'm kind of regretting it. The 30k rules look much more balanced than 40k and the models are just as good. I just wanted to hear from people who have played a few games. Do you like the balance?

Use your DKOK as Imperial Militia using the rules from the last HH book.

You still have some nice models

And as above, they can be repurposed

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

With the new BaC box, it's really cheap to begin a 30k army now, so don't regret it too much. Dkok have some of the nicest models out there, so at least you have that too.

Given that Death Korps are trained and equipped to fight in a radiation and bioweapon laced hellhole, I'd say they'd make ideal Imperialis Militia or Solar Auxilia - background wise, I'd call them Tallarns, as that's what the contemporary world of Tallarn is like....

I use Death Korp as Grenadiers for my Survivors of a Dark Age+Abhuman Helots Imperial Militia army. The models are great and can be used for pretty much any infantry in Imperial Militia and Cults (Well, besides renegades.)

Playing:
Main:
-Chaos Daemons
-Sometimes CSM allies for Daemons
Alts:
-Dark Angels
-Inquisition, nobody expects the imperial
-Officio Assassinorum
-Legion of the Damned

I agree with the Imperialis Militia force. Even if you don't want to get any more, one platoon makes a very cheap little Allies bundle.

What models do you have exactly? If you bought the big Dkok Infantry Platoon bundle, you already have quite a lot:

1 x Auxilia Command Cadre (Using the command squad, and maybe lots of the special weapon upgrades)
2 x Auxilia Infantry Squad (Using the four infantry squads with no special weapons)
1 x Auxilia Fire Support Squad (using all of the heavy weapon teams - though you might want to convert them to all have the same weapon)

The only thing you'd need would be one model to be your Force Commander, and one guy to add to your Command Cadre since those are six models strong, if you don't want to buy anything more, you could do this by breaking up one of the heavy weapon teams (the squad only needs five teams) and using the two guys in the command squad, which then means your Officer can be the Force Commander.

This is actually too much for an allies detachment! So you'd either have options to use as allies, or a good base for a IM army!
