Hello everybody!

I have a rather general question for Adeptus Mechanicus players-
What loadouts do you run your Skitarii with?
This is in regards to both Rangers and Vanguard.
Do feel free to discuss tactics too

I feel rather spoilt for choice with wargear options and i'm not sure what to run my Skitarii with. I'm thinking Vanguard with Plasma Calivers, rangers with either Arc Rifles and Transuranic Arquebuses.
The Former probably as a form of "move from cover to cover" frontline unit in a larger squad and the latter as long range small squad of special snowflake/light tank harrassers
Then again, a two full squads of vanguard running vanilla with Radium carbines on the front lines actually sounds really fun for just blasting things with buckets of dice.

Depends on how you run them?

I run War Convocation and my rangers are a tax.. they constant under perform for me so I would min/max them as much as possible if you are running a Maniple / War Convocation. Vanguard are almost the exact opposite and are huge performers for me. I prefer having a solid 10 man unit with 3x Plasma Calivers but when I played pure drop skitarii I really enjoy the haywire shots as they had a lot of utility with the high strength but don't underestimate a pure 10 man unit with no upgrades.. they are cheap, surprisingly survivable and 30 rad gun shots can drown a unit in wounds.

I would say that Rangers are actually pretty cool with the Manila. Scout + MTC with Haywire guns ensures lots of dead vehicles, and at least S4 can hit some rear armor. More importantly they hold objectives a lot better.

That said, Vanguard are SUPER excellent.

For me the rangers are great with arc rifles running around for move through cover. The TA has always under performed for me. Vanguard are great, but I only do 3 plasma on 10 men squads and usually only one of those per run. For both I always take omnispex and avoid any other upgrades. (unless war convocation then its all out but I feel super cheatyface using that)
