I have played marines since 5th and have seen their power level dramatically rise over the Editions but would you now consider them cheese if so we're would you rank them and what is the cheesiest list you could bring?

They can be with certain builds, formations and allies. It's also very possible to make a fairly friendly marine list.

Really just depends on what you use. Most of the SM are mid tier to good. They really only become cheese when you bring things like Grav Cent Deathstar or all Ravenwing w/ Libby on Bikes formation.

Like others have said, marines as a whole are not. With certain formations and loadouts, they can me. Grav spam white scars double demi company is pretty damn strong. However CAD marines are middle tier.

I think the main thing is what is good in the marine book is very good, and then everything else has a pretty steep drop off relatively speaking.

imho the marine book is very well.balanced atleast without formations. However im.not a competitive player but as someone whos started my own space marine chapter (using IF chapter tactics due to being a fists successor) it feels like the majority of the codex is atleast decent for me

Having a certain red lighting on your white armor certainly makes you a cheesy marine and a public enemy number one.
Especially is there is some bald guy with weird name leading you forward to make a "recon redeployment" with house-sized tanks. And you are armed with a green gun.
Or you're a Psyker riding a bike together with 4 of your bros.
