I recently introduced my father to Armada and we have played two games so far. We only have the starter box and we are looking at growing our list up to 300 points. Unfortunately I don't know much of the game or ships since we have only played twice. Can anyone offer some advice on what we may want to pick up next?

Thanks!

I'd suggest the heroes and villains pack for the awesomeness contained within.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

+1 for rogues and villains.

Also i'd suggest a raider for imperial, and an assault frigate for the rebellion. The individual boxes for the three starter ships are also good buys, to flesh out your upgrade lists.

The raider gives the imperials a fast flight ship to counter the corvette, and the AF gives the rebels a ship that won't explode from a stern look by the Victory.

I ended up picking up a raider just because I like how it looks but it's nice to see that it's fun as well. My father is playing rebels and hates how the AF looks... But it seems I need to convince him to pick one up.

He could also pick up the Home One, it is basically a larger and more expensive version of the Assault Frigate in how it plays.

Also the fighter packs for both sides are very good, a lot more options in them.

He's not the only one; the assault frigate is an ugly **** and whilst it's not bad, it doesn't really do anything you couldn't do with other ships.

Home One is an awesome ship - essentially giving you a ship that wants to fight broadside-to-broadside with star destroyers.

Note that it doesn't play especially well with Nebulons, who want to fight head-on.

I'll second on the Assault Frigate, but also the MC30C. Both are very good ships with good cards.

But I've got no beef with how the Assault Frigate looks either. I do wish the AF was a little smaller, it just seems a bit sized wrong to me.

If you play Imperial, you'll want an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Aside from being an awesome model, they're also the lynchpin of many effective lists. The Gladiator is also a nice ship to have, a bit more flexible than the Victory-class that comes with the core set.
