Right now, the knights codex consists of only Knights, but what if it didn"t what other units could be added to make knights into a more well rounded force? I know the households have men at arms that could be used to form a ground force but what are some other option? How could you possible create a knight force org or "decurion" type detachment that would still allow for the knights to be the central focus of the army, but with the proper support units in place. Ideally, this wouldn't be lists with 5 knights but smaller numbers supported by units designed to synergize with them and enhance the force as a whole.
To be clear, Im speaking more in terms of potential units that would be in a new knights codex. These units would be new and fluffy and serve to support a knights household from within. In terms of the force org, how coudl one be designed that would still allow knights to be the focus of the army but with proper support behind them in the form of units from their own household such as man at arms, cavalry, etc..

I really like the idea of serfs/men at arms slogging it as infantry. Put in some dreadnaught scale walkers as elites and fast attack and you've got a much more well scaled army.

In a similar theme, use the new Cadian rules with the massed infantry groups (Emperors shiled). It has plenty of men and also requires you to take some sentinels. It would make sense for the servants of the knightly houses to venerate them to the point that they would choose to use sentinels in combat over other armor so they can emulate and honor their protectors.

The Skitarii also fit this bill in the AdMech aligned Houses. And don't AdMech have a Formation that does exactly this? One Knight and a full force of AdMech?

its a nasty one, a Skitarii Maniple (pretty much 1 of every unit in their codex), a knight, and an HQ and 2 troops minimum from Cult Mechanicus and you get FREE WARGEAR. Its criminally insane if it wasnt so darn expensive monetarily to run

I updated the main post but just to respond to everyone at once, this is for potential units in a new codex for knights, not list building ideas using other forces. What units could be created to round out a knight codex and make them more of a standard force with flavor rather than an army of LOWs and nothing else.

I would rather have purchasable ranks, similar to the first Knight codex or in 30k, just not random like in the first codex. Get a rebate for lowering stats, pay a little extra for stat buff, etc. Another nice addition would be skill or role perks, again like how 30k does it for Knights.
Non-Knight units can be allied in already, so its not like Knights more cut'n'past AdMech or Guard.
