Hello all,

In the next few days I plan on picking up the Betrayal at Calth box set, finally. I'm hoping to use the contents to add to my 40k Dark Angels army. I'm very much into all the fluff of 40k. The moment it isn't fluffy, it isn't represented in my army.

However, I prefer the dark green over jet black. I always found black to be a relatively boring and common color for space marine chapters so the green is much more appealing to me. But I was wondering if MKIV power armour that's green for Dark Angels would make any sense whatsoever.

From what I've gathered, the MKIV armour was the most common power armour during the Horus Heresy. It was still used after though. Proof of that can be seen in chapters like the Flesh Tearers and the Angels of Absolution. They're chapters of the second founding, which is clearly after the Horus Heresy, and have images depicting them in MKIV power armour.

After the Horus Heresy, most of the Dark Angels changed their armour to green. Would that switch to green simply be a repaint of their MKIV power armour or would they have gotten a new, later version power armour that was green? I would suspect the former, but cannot find any evidence to back that up. Does anyone with a better understanding of this lore answer my question?

Do what you love and love what you do. Like sell firewood.

All armor was repainted green. The only guys that kept the old paintjob was the Consecrators and Angels of Vengeance.

Someone I know got Betrayal at Calth and chose Dark Angels and while he painted their armour black he edge highlighted it dark green. Could be something to consider.

And the Ravenwing and Deathwing, until the Deathwing repainted their armor Bone.
