I am a wolf player by nature but I am quite enthralled by the idea of 15 KILLA KANS on the battlefield! When I built my wolves list I did it for fun, I bought models that I liked, and went from there.... ITs fun to play with but overall I did not make a competitive army at all. In our gaming group the saying goes " if its worth taking 1 its worth taking three". With that n mind I am thinking of how to create a strong list by using multiples of each entry.

My idea is that the Killa kans run all over the field, while the deff dreads bring up the rear using them as a screen. At the same time the burnas, and lootas race around and intercept antyhing gunning for the Kans, or the dreads. Any ideas? Anyone actually play a list like this competitibely? Is this possible? When I say "Competitively" I mean competitively amongst friends, so Its not life or death, though it would be fun to win

HQ:
-x1 Kustom Meka Dread w/ Big Zzapa, KFF

Personally if you have that many dreads I would split them up into more units. That way it is harder to kill all of them. You should see if you can take them in the great waaagh detachment. According to FW as long as your opponent (or TO) in a tournament is ok with it you can. Then your dreads might deep strike if you want and you can have up to 8 troops choices. Other than that I prefer the ghazzy dread mob for ere we go because when I use the FW one they refuse to make any charges so the one dice reroll is necessary for me. Other than that it looks pretty good to me.

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted

Sorry do you mean split the Kans up, or the actual dreads up? (I always see Kans as little baby dreads, so I wanted to make sure that I am understanding correctly haha) If yes for Kans, I think my Fast Attack is already maxed out. In regards to the Deff Dreads, its telling me that I can have up to 3 units of them, which I already have so they are maxed out as well as far as FOC. I am using battle scribe so I will have to see if I can find how to make a "Great Waaag Detachment"

Yes I am talking about the deff dreads. Why is it saying you can only have 3 squads? In the dread mob update it says they can be taken in squads of up to 3 and as many squads as you have troops choices slots left. I am thinking that if you keep the same number of deff dreads but split them up to take all the extra troops choices. You can do it in battlescribe. I think you select the great waaagh detachment in the drop down box and then I think instead of selecting orks for the faction is there a dread mob orks? I forget how I did it but ill check in a bit and let you know how. It's just funny to have deep striking dreads. Plus it lets you move them faster and such.

Unfortunately, the "Great Waaagh Detachment" is not for you if you want to have a lot of walkers.

Your best choice is Ork Dread Mob army list from Imperial Armour 8 as you've already done. Other choice is the formation "Dread Mob" from Waaagh Ghazghkull Supplement but you need two Gorka or Morka-nauts.

In Ork Dread Mob army list you can have up to 6 troops choice so you can go with 6 units of 1 Deff Dread each.

If I were you I'd lose Spanna boys and Looted Wagon and get more Lootas or Lobbas.

And take Rokkit Launchas for all your walkers. I'd say it is the best choice and they are FREE. Big shoota, Shorcha and Grotzooka are more anti light infantry guns but you Klaws can deal better with it.

Also you should think how much Klaws you need on your Deaf Dreads. The more the better but they are expensive. Sometimes you need more Klaws, sometimes more Dakka from Lootas or Lobbas.

Tellyporta Strike: Before deployment, roll a D6 for each non-Flyer unit in this Detachment, adding +1 to the result if the unit's Battlefield Role is Troops. On a result of 6+, that unit has the Deep Strike special rule.

Certainly, it is funny to have deep striking Dreads. But you have to be very lucky...

You can use the dread mob army list for the great waaagh detachment. Sure a little luck is required for deepstriking dreads but its still funny. Sadly you have to take 1+ units of spanna boyz. And before you ask yes you can use the list with the detachment. It has the same restrictions of your opponent or TO has to be ok with it but that's pretty much what you need to use the army list anyway.

Wow deep striking dreads sounds amazing! I just laid it all out in Battle scribe, as x6 different units of Deff Dreads, thanks.

I now have 9 Kans, 6 Dreads, 1 Stompa. Still room for more.

Seems like there are a million ways to go with Orks. As I mentioned id like everything on the board to be a walker... But that is going to get super $$$ super fast. I can of course eat up points with the Stompa, etc, but at $50 a pop dreads are pricey. (I have 1 as of now)

I feel like the fastest way to get into a game is to do ghaz dread mob, and kit everything out to the max to eat up points... Since id have to buy the least physical amount of miniatures. BUT if I want to switch to IA8 dread mob from there I would have basically purchased 2 gorkanauts for no reason. And as I have heard they are fire magnets and are not necessarily that good either.... THE OPTIONS!!!

What were your main issues you ran into when you played? I know you mentioned at some point that deployment is key. Was it very easy to be out manouvered since everything is so slow?

For Dread Mob army, I think Spanna Boyz are required. That is they are a 1+ unit, so are mandatory in a IA8 Dread Mob army.

Another thing to look at is Dread Mob formation and a Ork CAD. I've ran a list consisting of a CAD and Dread Mob.

So CAD Warboss on Bike, min Gretchin troops, and 5 Roklit Deffkoptas squad.

Dread Mob with Pain Boy and Big Mek on bikes, Big Mek with Killsaw and Big Boss Pole.
2x Deffdreads with 2x Skorchas and 2x DCCW
One Dread with 4x DCCW
2x 3 Killa Kans with Rokkit Launchas
1x 3 Killa Kans with Grotzookas
2x Morkanauts with KFF.

Comes out to 1850. With the formation, the walkers get 'Ere we go! Rule, and benefit from Waagh. Also they get D3 Hammer of Wrath hits. And the Big Mek, Pain Boy, Warboss, and Deffkoptas all join up for a fearless unit that hits pretty hard.

Try and keep the squads of walkers all the same weapons. Rokkits with rokkits, Grotzookas with grotzookas. Don't take Skorchas on Killa Kanz. Utilize the grots superior ballistic skills.

Hope that helps some.
