I've always like Bran Redmaw and with his new rules from FW and the new Space Wolves release with the Wulfen I'm considering converting Bran and The Redmaw.

I know not many people have seen the new rules but I'm fairly certain it'll say GW named wolf lords can replace the Greatpack formation wolf lord but would it be ok to use Bran as the wolf lord as well?

Thanks

If the codex has a list of names, that's all you get. If Bran Redmaw doesn't have some option that says he can be used as a Wolf Lord in Formations that call for one, you can't do it. It's no different than any other named character from any other Chapter/Faction. If you ask your opponent though, they might be cool with it. Redmaw is a fluffy option, not a power gaming one like Severin Loth of the Scorpions, so it is more likely folks won't care in casual games.

Just out of curiosity, what units would fit a real fluff/background-based Redmaw Great Company?
I know Wulfen are a given, (the main reason why I'd choose Bran's company - because they're almost Chaos! ) But what else would fit if going purely fluffy rather than really competitive?

I'm toying with the idea of adding a couple of those new 'start collecting' SW boxes to my left over bitz now that we've got a cool new Tzeentch/Chaos vs. SW's/DA's/GK's campaign on the go...

From the wiki Bran appears to usually fights independent of his company but with fenrisian wolf packs and leaving his company in charge of his Wolf Guard.

He uses Grey Hunters to surround his foes and used to have rules for this but doesn't any more.

His forces are also very prone to the curse of the Wulfen and they are know to tear their foes apart, so taking some Wulfen for both themselves and their AOE buffs is probably pretty appropriate.

So Grey Hunters, Fenrisian wolves, Wulfen, Wolf Guard and outflanking is what I'd go with.

Cool!

I know that Bran himself apparently carries a master-crafted Frost Axe, plus I was certainly going to give him the Wulfen Stone relic for obvious reasons...

I saw a few images of the IA book that featured SW vs. Eldar, and I definitely like the idea of a unit of Sky Claws to help play-up the angry, savage assault side of things. Then I guess fill out the rest with MSU Grey Hunters, Puppies, Wulfen and those Wolf Guard...

And the Tzeentchian in me just can't say no to the new Rune Priest formation, because magic solves everything! (or at least leads to killing things with FIRE! )

Wolf Priests could be good as well cause apparently Logan has told them to keep a close eye on Bran's company so they don't go the way the 13th went.

Also Bran already has his own rules and they've just been updated with the new Doom of Mymeara, here they are from Google images... http://cdn.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Brand-Redmaw-rules.jpg

Thanks for the link!

That would free up the Wulfen Stone for say a WGBL or perhaps as you suggest, maybe a Wolf Priest could carry it.
