I should tell ya about myself. I am whats could be called a Dungemaster, or Storyteller, or Gamemaster at times. For 28 years now ive been spining the campaigns of all versions of AD&D/Pathfinder, Some werewolf and mage also and trying to figure out RIFTS also. i have somewhere between 5-12 players a couple times a week.
Back in middle school before i started to DM my best friend showed me 40K, he and his brothers all had various armies and they played against each other. He showed me the space wolves, i fell in love with their lore.. and well wolf has been in my life very much so its called to me. so told myself if ever could would build the chapter.
Recently my financial situation recently changed where i have surplus moneys over expenses. I already own 8 or 9 Ultrasaber or Vadervault Lightsabers that are for dueling.
Back then as a lad i went into DMing because it was cheeper then 40k and the folks would allow me a budget of allowance to cover the books and a few minatures, but not the books and armies of minatures. Ive been filling out the mini collection in the decades since. A neighbor plays 40k and has multiple armies So since i picked up a few vehicles to use in a pathfinder campaign as mini's, i asked her to paint them, she has been for me. It got me curious about the 3 ravenwing bike squad i picked up and why they are different then the normal bike squad.
So i got the Dark Angel Codex. Id only ever read the Space Wolf Codex's and DA were punks that the wolves liked to get into fights with whenever they crossed paths. i never could remember why. I read this codex a few times, learned off the Chapters purpose. Once i learned of the hunt they are on. and they price they paid for being loyal. I said ... where do i enlist.
I have decided to build myself the entire chapter of dark angels. It should take me a few years, or less if i pick up other peoples companies and tweak them. The point is to own the chapter, not build Everything by myself, as ive got a bunch of friends that would help paint and assemble and could ask for help at multiple gaming stores in my area of the frozen tundra.
Ive run into a few problems though. First i feel guilty for not building the Space Wolf Army i promised myself near on 30 years ago that i would build when i could. Ive never fought with or against the spacewolves in a match. ive just always been a fanbo of them. So i may assemble theirs while im doing the DA army, but thats not what this post is about.
I have already given each unit in the chapter their arms and armor. But i dont know how well each thing does in battle. So i need some advice. If i am going to build/ buy 1006 different minature packages of DA guys to make up a max size chapter per 7e codex.
I need to know a few things, I do not want to bring bring pea shooters to a battle. if im building an army of this size.. I want to make sure it has the Dakka Dakka. I was going to make a thread in the army lists. But there is nothing to this scale there so i though it may just get deleted or folks think it was a joke. is that the appropriate place to put a thread about building a chapter?
My questions are this..
10th Company = Scout Company.
Since, RW Black Knights all have scout, Can i per the RAW field them as my 10 scout squads? or for that matter RW Darkshroud's as they too have Scout. or is it only the simple scout squad itself?
Is it true that if i make the company chaplains on a bikes could put all units in the company on bikes?
For example. I am thinking of taking the 2 Tactical, 1 Assult and 1 Devastor Company and making 3 more battle companies out of them with the 9th Company as the /reservesRemainder of the squads.
This would in effect give me 6 Battle Companies all either on bikes or with jump packs. That i can drop via drop pods where the 2nd Company says is safe?
OR free Razorbacks if i make them part of the Lion's Blade there any reason why RAW i can not organize the chapter in this manner?
Also what book will tell me how many Biker's i can fit into a Vehicle. Does a bike = +1 or +2 infantry units?
Where can i find the Number of Black Knights that is in the 2nd Company. Just says Black Knights, not # black knights. Same with the three different Deathwing Knights in 1st Company? Is it just a unit each, or is the same 100 that makes up 10 sets of DW Termi Squads? 402 men in the company potentually?
Where do i find the information for the 16 Strike Cruisers, 8 Battle Barges, 21 Rapid Strike GUnships, 31 Thunderhawk GUnships, 10 Apothecaries, or the Epistolaries, Codiciers, Lexicaniums, Acolytum's?
