Would this gun be any good at a BS3 model (with 3 wounds decent T and saves) the total point cost for the model would be ~30 points.

I am trying to look at a fresh way at this unit but it might help to get some outside help from players who don't know what it is.

The 36" melta is a bit much for me, seems a bit too special snowflakey. But 30pts on a 3 wound model wit decent toughness and saves? You have seriously undercosted whatever this is, any more information on what it is, what army, what it's role is?
This should also be in Proposed Rules.

Too many variables here that make the gun pointless no matter what it is. If the model is T4, absolutely not. It will get insta-gibbed and with a good gun, that just makes it even more of a priority. Heavy 1 means it needs Relentless to be worth anything. Why bother with S4 when I can get a S7 Autocannon team with more shots at better range. How many models in the unit can take this gun? Just one means that the rest of the unit is prolly using Bolter equivalents, which means the mystery gun is at best a hidden Powerfist in an otherwise meh shooting attack which makes however many points for the rest of the squad worthless to get this one AP1 shot that misses half the time...

I like the idea of the gun, but everything else needs to slot into place too. One decent gun in five does not make a good unit. Case in point: Tactical Squads.

I'm am not making this up it is an actual model with equivalent rules. I just wanted to know how players would think of it out of context.

The model can't be insta gibbed and it can be bought in squads of 1-5 all in the same model with this gun and the squad is not relentless.

Is this one of the random strength guns for Orks?

Isn't full range melta just called armourbane?

Jup it is but most players don't have the same feel for it when it just reads armour bane.
