I'm planning on an 1850 per side tournament at the end of the year that is allowing nearly all superheavies bar titans. 3 detachment limit, no Come the Apocalypse. While I can't use my super broken Titans, I do have an old Armorcast Scorpion (two, actually) and a Vampire Raider (with two pulsars now), which is a better option?

Vampire would be very durable but hard to maneuver without going into Hover mode (and losing the flying targeting benefits).

Scorpion easier to manouver locally but gives +1 VP and easier to hit.

I was toying with the idea of a mostly airforce, with a Vampire Raider w/ Pulsars, Fires of the Phoenix Formation (2 Phoenix), Crimson Death (3 Crimson Hunters) . And a few squads of Rangers or or Jetbikes (not sure which) lead by an Autarch (for reserve manipulation).

Such a list means low kill point total for the enemy, and could really only kill a handful of units a turn, but deadly. But First turn is a gamble with so few units on the table until the air cavalry arrives and getting tabled.

What do you think? I don't expect to get far in the tournament but want to finally use my Vampire or Scorpion. And the Vampire is of course a more impressive piece on the table.
