Total newb who has decided to jump into X-wing to play casually with some friends.

Want to play Imperial and have the models/cards to make the following 100pt lists:

LIST A
* TIE Advanced (Vader) (squad ldr, advanced targeting computer)
* TIE fighter (black squadron pilot)
* TIE fighter (black squadron pilot)
* (3) TIE fighters (academy pilots)

LIST B
As above but drop Advanced targeting computer and with the points upgrade one Black squadron pilot to "Backstabber" and take the "determination" and swarm tactics cards.

Looking to learn the basics of flying and game mechanics before I go with more complex stuff. Am I even in the ball park in terms of a usable list?

Any feedback/corrections/incite appreciated.

Question:
Do you have the Tie/x1 title card? That's the only way you can use the Advanced Targeting Computer on Darth Vader. And with the title, the ATC only costs 1 point.

If you're learning the basics of flying, you might want to get some lower point games in....starting with a TIE Swarm is rough sledding for a new player. See if your friends can do some 50 point games to ease you into the mechanics and how to pilot.
A TIE swarm is very challenging positionally, and moving that many ships/dials is mentally tiring.

Yes I have that card. That leaves me four points I guess...

I could upgrade one of the three TIE fighters with academy pilots to an interceptor (alpha squadron pilot).

Do you have Howlrunner?
Her ability is amazingly efficient for TIE Swarms; she's pretty much an auto-include.

Look at:
Vader (title, ATC)
Howlrunner
Black Squadron Pilot x2
Academy Pilot x2

100 points right on the nose; pretty much based on what you've already said you have.
I would suggest other stuff, but it seems you have a limited collection and I don't want to speculate on cards you may not own.

I have that card also.

No problem, dude.

Check out the reddit XwingTMG page. a lot of stuff on there, and more responsive.
I will say that the Dakkaites here have good advice though.

Yes they do. They have been helpful for me, even when I can't get what it is they are suggesting quite yet. The only real problem is no matter how much information they impart, it is coming from their experiences and play style. Their experience helps, but using stuff is the only real way to get it yourself. Any questions ask, and they will be very helpful to you. They are great guys.

The tweak I would suggest is:
Vader (adaptability, title, ATC)
Howlrunner
Obsidian Squadron Pilot x4

Making all your scrub TIEs the same pilot skill will make it easier to fly them in formation. If you can get your hands on the Mist Hunter expansion, it comes with the zero point Adaptability card, which lets you adjust Vader's PS to either match Howlrunner's (again, making it easier to fly in formation), or to out-PS enemy aces.

Consider a naked Vader
Howlrunner
Wampa (if you have him)
Academy x3

Leaves you 3 points to give Vader title+ACD or Howlrunner stealth or a Hull to keep her alive an extra turn.
Howlrunner helps Wampa get that Crit so he can just dump a card on low hull-hi Agi ships like Whisper, Soontir. Corran, and Poe.

Thanks guys. You have given me a number of builds to cut my teeth on.

First games this Saturday...
