I really don't know which way I want to go, though I have narrowed it down to three.
Tyranids (I love Alien)
Imperial Guard
Tau Empire
My decision comes down to two factors on these three came down to two factors, how much I played them in DOW UA and how they looked. As from there, I don't know which one to go??

I'm getting a "you should play Tyranids" vibe from your post.

You'll find it easier and more enjoyable to paint your models if you choose an army that is aesthetically pleasing to you. I too get the sense that it's nids from that note in parentheses. No need to get too hung up on what has the best rules as the flavor of the week is ever changing.

I agree. Go with the one that looks the most appealing and you think you'll still have fun with. It's why a lot of people play orks, cuz they sure don't play them for the rules.

From a gaming perspective. You'll probably win the most with tau, but may have a hard time finding opponents for causal games. The nids and guard are both in desperate need of an update. With nids have a slight edge in the competitive scene but that is only if you run a very specific build. If winning isn't important to you then I say go with whatever catches your eye the most, and which one you'll think you'll enjoy painting.

Go for Nids I say. They will get another update before long and they are fun to play and against. Very thematic.

Always go with what you love first. After you're sucked into the game, expand from there.

Well you COULD take the playstyle into consideration:
* Tyranids are hordes of melee units, with monstrous creatures leading the horde.

* Tau are almost exclusively ranged combat high-tech guys, they won't survive in close combat but will simply gun down anything trying to get into melee.

* Imperial Guard can vary hugely on what kind of Guard regiment you're gonna play, but are generally speaking a shooty army, but you decide if it's artillery, tanks or infantry who do most of it.
One huge advantage to them is that there's a ton of 3rd party alternatives if you want something different from the regular Cadian guys.

Well I decided I am going to Imperial Guard (Although Half of you said Tryanids). I am starting to lose interest in the Tau (started to read their Codex, not to big a fan) and then when I found I could (edventually) own a Stormhammer, I was set. One final question, if the StormHammer is a SOLAR AUXILIA, could I use in a Steel Legion army (love the gas masks).
