Hey guys and gals, I'm wanting a new gaming laptop that can run Warhammer tw at top specs, but on a budget, can anyone help?

Wanting to run max settings for a new release with a budget laptop? Sure I know a guy who can help you out with that.

On a budget doesn't mean £1800 + I'm looking around 6-800

On a laptop? Not happening. Not for another decade or so.

even a 6-800 pound computer won't cut it. Minimum to run that as max would probably be 1k ($1200)

What would you suggest for the £1000 mark then? As I said, I'm not familier with what's good these days

I've got an MSI Dominator Pro (GT70) for ~2.2kCAD which will happily run TW based on recommended specs. A quick search in British Monies showed you get something similar (a GE or GS) with a 960M for ~1k. Ideally you'd probably want something with at least a 970M to run what you're looking and have room to play newer titles down the road.

There's a few other companies out there that use the shells made by the likes of MSI, but they put their own hardware and are sometime 10% cheaper. If you like the more professional look, I'd go that way, but the names of these companies escape me.

*Edit* Quick search on laptopdirect.uk showed a GS70 with 970M for 1300. Linky

gaks light and thin to boot, though heating can be a little problematic with the size.

It is good, but so you know, the recommended specs for the game are a GTX760, which is closest to a 970M. The 960M is decent, but its comparable to the next card down in the 700 series, which isn't quite optimal.

I'd recommend something with a 970M if you can splurge a little. But a 960M should be fine, just won't run everything at max settings.

Google some benchmarks with a 960M, I'm 99% sure they've used that exact laptop to benchmark dozens of popular games at a range of settings.

*Edit* I'm also assuming you want a gaming laptop because you travel a lot/are away from home for long durations. That said, mandatory advice that a desktop is better dollar/performance ratio.

*Further editing* It should also be noted that the next trend in laptops will be to have universal ports to connect with desktop GPUs. That way you can have a tiny, slim, portable laptop with reasonable power (like a 950M), then go home and connect to the external GPU and have most of the power of a desktop. Keep an eye out for that.
