I have a collection of loota burnas I've finally got the nerve to try and assemble (Deciding is tough for me). I realized after gluing 9 lootas that I could feasibly magnetize 10 or 15 of the other models to be lootas, burnas, or even meks with an array of equipment in my magentized bits box.

For the most part, I figure others have figured out how to do this, but do i magnetize the left or right shoulder to the deffgun/burna arms? Do i need both magnetized?

I am worried about the left arm looking bad on burnas because gluing it to the snap in spot on the gun arm might leave a large gap in the left shoulder if i magnetize the right shoulder only.

If I magnetize both I feel like both shoulders will mismatch on some models and be ugly. And cost twice as many magnets from china

If you have magnetized these models to be interchangeable, I would like your advice

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

legs + bases are about $1.75 each, torsos much less. Do you really want to bother? If you just make more boyz you can run them together, if you like.

Magnets aren't free, and so you have additional costs magnetizing anyway.

Look for sales on legs, (rarely) you can get them for less.

If you really want to do it, you'd have to slide the gun in from the top, and magnetize both arms to the gun as a unit. you may have to shave off the tops of the shoulders to get them to slide on smoothly, but I've done it with big choppas and it's not too bad. Make sure hte magnets have the same polarity (I make sure mine have north facing right) then magetize both shoulders and both arms, but only glue the arms & gun after the magnetizing is all done. Full Disclosure: I've never tried this with lootas or burnas...I've just bought extra legs & torsos and made both.

Edited to add: You can also make some of the burnas into kommandos, and if they are separate you can paint them appropriately or add netting, leaves, etc. On my todo list. I've not magnetized any of my 12 initial lootas, I just made 9 burnas and now have 3 for kommandos. Also, since my paint scheme is very specific by unit type I wouldn't even consider it.
