Lots of armor, almost no dudes. Firepower is paramount. The Hydra and Eradicators are my meager AA, while the Bassies get issued the Ignores Cover order and the Split Fire goes to the Wyverns (on rare occasions when it is the right choice). Enginseer posts up with the Command Squad in the Chimera and only makes a cameo when its dire straights. Manticore does what it does, also maybe a good candidate for Ignores Cover! The CCS just sits back and protects its assets. Pask & his lovely PE bubble mean I am re-roll Get's Hot! on those beastly Executioners, along with his gnarly Rending Punisher gun. So, yea, all that AV14 rolling up should do some hurt. The Eradicator is for taking out 4+ in cover, such as Tau.

How does this look? Think it can hold up in a disgustingly competitive meta? Not that I am trying to be a WAAC type (duh, this is a Guard list), but I want to not get steamrolled in my area, which is home to some insanely competitive folks.

Eradicators can't be your AA, since they fire templates, did you mean exterminators? I wouldn't go Steel Host, I'd go Emperor's Fist for BS4. Honestly, I'd go Imperial Armour 1 so your Russes are troops and have objective secured. I'm working on a GT list and just now reading through IA1, second edition. Your command tank can be a vanquisher and take Beast Hunter ammo for 20 points, STR 8 AP2, instant death.

From a tau point of view many lists will still give you fits as the optimized stealth cadre is a fairly popular auxiliary choice. Hitting rear armor always will make short work of the russes.

That being said if they don't have d shooting or read armor hits fusion blasters are really their only other solution to high AV targets.

PE from Steel Host makes the Executioner viable and 5 S7 Ap2 blasts is nasty. BS4 is great, but most of what I have is a blast or TL, so... not a real huge deal, imo.

What would be a sound strategy against Tau and Eldar, as I feel those would be tough match-ups.
