maybe a stupid question but who sees if a post is exalted? I'm quite positive it seems and even sometimes exalt a post I already have as it shows the option to exalt like always until you click it again. Bolter & Ch for example shows you if someone likes your post and reading posts you can see who and who liked this post. If that happens on Dakka I'm missing it.
It's not a big deal, of course, I'm just curious. Do posters know if I'm complimenting them by exalting their post, basically? Thx for the help.

Legoburner can see it, he's the only one. You don't get a notification when your posts get exalted. Once a year, Lego posts a few Top 3 lists, including one that lists the Top 3 users with most exalted posts. Afaik, exalting was implemented and was supposed to have an actual meaning, but as of now, it doesn't. /e: Well, I guess all admins can see it.

It does. Exalting ranks threads in the 'Top Threads' list, and also for the Dakka blogroll and (I think) Facebook page.
Exalts aren't made visible to avoid turning it into a popularity contest.

You can exalt posts as well as threads though?
AFAIK all that does is put me in second place every year...

It does. Exalting ranks threads in the 'Top Threads' list, and also for the Dakka blogroll and (I think) Facebook page.
Exalts aren't made visible to avoid turning it into a popularity contest.
Though since you can't tell why the thread got exalted, it's still rather pointless.

I'm not sure why you'd Exalt a post unless you actually like it though, so...that is the point?

Can you remove exalts? I use Dakka on my phone, and quite often hit EXALT rather than Forum List or Quote, especially if the screen does a last minute load-jiggle. I also hit it in my own posts while trying to quote the one below.
I've removed topics from the list of Exalted in my profile before, but sometimes I hit the button again, and it says "Already Exalted!"

The first post I exalted I did inadvertantly this way. I usually use my phone or iPad to browse the internet nowadays. On another forum I accidentally disliked posts due to the same kind of issue.

Thanks to sheer volume of posters, the occasional accidental exalt isn't really going to skew the results by any significant amount.
