I think the title sums it up quite nicely. As of my posting this, in the first three pages of the 40k Background forum there are at least 4 different threads relating to the origins, identities and fan-theories of the two missing Primarchs. I don't doubt it's a valid question and I certainly agree it's an interesting topic, however it is becoming quite tedious for myself and many of the more longer standing members who see this topic crop up at least once a week. The main trouble is that the newer members who innocently ask about the fluff often end up getting berated or ridiculed by those who have seen the thread one to many times while those who are doing the berating are simply tired of seeing the same thing again and again. Seeing as people find it to hard to browse Lexicanum for the info, I wonder if a sticky thread providing all the current info may help lower the number of threads that crop up. On that note, perhaps the thread could simply outline the most commonly asked questions and perhaps provide a bit of information about them?

Anyway, food for thought. Cheers,

It's been discussed in the past (I know, the irony, right?)... The problem is simply that people don't read stickies... There's been a sticky in the 40K General section for 6 years now telling people (right there in the title) to post rules questions in YMDC, and yet we still have to move threads out of General on a daily basis.

All that would happen if we did this is that you would still get the threads being started, but at some point in the first page of replies you would get someone telling the OP to go read the sticky, and the rest of the thread would continue as normal.

Ultimately, as you spend time on a forum like this, you're going to see topics repeat themselves. That's just the nature of the beast. If you're bored with a given topic, just don't open the thread. You don't have to respond every time someone asks the question... someone else will.

I sort of knew it would be hard to police, but I thought I may as well put in a word anyway. Obviously, I don't have to open the thread and often I don't bother or if I do, I won't reply. I just feel that the more the topic comes up, the less tolerant members become more irritated with the newer members who haven't seen it crop up as much. The more they get irritated, the more they may put off the newer members - which isn't good for the forum all round. Anyway, cheers for the response, I just thought I'd see what could be done.
