Subject: Modeling a Feudal World AM regiment
|

Fresh-Faced New User

Hey guys,
I was looking to make an AM regiment based on a Feudal World that is reminiscent of the Late Roman Empire. I wanted the troops to look similar to the frontier garrisons of the Roman Legion from the time of Constantine. They will almost definitely not be acclimatized to the tech of the Imperium so they should not be fully kitted with standard AM equipment. But perhaps they could come from a planet that possessed a Knight House? That could justify them not being as shocked by the more conventional weapons, like the lasgun.
I expect a challenge, and will no doubt have to do some sculpting, but does anyone have any other recommendations(i.e. bitz, models, etc) to help expedite the process?
Thank you!

Warlord games do good Romans. They are definitely 28mm but slightly heroic so depending on how big you think space marines are fluffwise they could be good.
They are multi part plastic so that's a plus but you will need to get some skinny guns etc from Victoria Minis or FW as the GW IG hands are about the size of their heads.

Definitely a cool sounding army. I'd obviously check out Fantasy miniatures for bitz, maybe look at MadRobot if you haven't already.

Also victrix do some romans, are true scale though so might look out of place with 40bits.

I am making a warlord games minis army myself right now and they are just enough off from hero scale that you need to commit fully to the army as a conversion for it to work.
That being said, Scibor has some helmets and other parts for sci fi Romans and they can easily work on heroic scale models.

I did something similar for my inquisition. The forgeworld torsos were beautiful sculpts so had to use them.
