Hi there, I'm writing this here as MS Office on my computer currently refuses to save anything, and randomly crashes atm. I have lost over 200 words (written multiple times) this way.
This will likely be incomplete forever.
Fun Fact: This is based off my (admittedly few) battles in the last few years, and loosely tied to 1d4chan's chapter creation tables.
Chapter: Black Templars
Crusade: The Balorissan Crusade
Reasons for the Crusade:
The Balorissan Sub-Sector of Ultima Segmentum has become overrun with traitorous Marines of various chapters, including the Ultramarines. There is no specific concentration of warp taint, but there is a lot of HERESY and witchcraft going on. The Templars have been called in as a reliable external force with which to police the Sub-Sector. The Templars have taken "policing" to mean "PURGING WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE", and this has not gone down well with the local Ultramarines.
When was the crusade launched:
Feth knows. There's been so much warpfethery since launch that nobody has any idea what's happening anymore. It's just become one giant fustercluck.
Crusade Strength:
This crusade appears to be the dumping ground for penitent Templars, and as such has more than should be allowed. To be fair, there is a lot more ground-holding than most crusades call for.
Crusade plagues and misfortunes:
The Balorissan crusade has been affected by high rates of defection, and a misfortune streak a star system wide. Barely anything has been going right since day one.
There have been numerous aggressive encounters with the Ultramarines, most of which resulted in heavy casualties on both sides. Whether or not anybody in those conflicts was actually a traitor is unknown.
The Black Consuls chapter has been rediscovered as a result of this Crusade, albeit in tatters and using scavenged wargear and geneseed, but have been regularly accused of heresy. As a result, if they weren't extinct before, they are about to be now, and they have lost most of their psyker population.
By the looks of things, the Tau are about to make an entrance into this whole mess, with a scout fleet detected probing the Sub-Sector. This is bad news for all, loyalist and traitor.
General view of the Crusading Templars of the current situation:
EVERYTHING IS EXTRA HERETICAL AND MUST BE PURGED. THE ULTRAMARINES ARE WITCHES.

Crusade Legends:
[Side note; this was an actual battle]
This gak has been going on long enough for the Templars involved to have a long and storied history, developing some new beliefs, and having legendary heroes. One such hero is the current Emperor's Champion, Galahad Witchslayer. Galahad stood alone, aside from a bunch of incompetent Ultramarine Sternguard, and was hunting down a cabal of Librarians from the Black Consuls. It was determined that they were performing some sort of heretical ritual, likely involving the warp and a special tablecloth, (there was also some fine china involved, but that's irrelevant), in a ruined building.
The Sternguard shot at one through a window, and received blasts of psychic power in return, and ran off after another librarian as he fled (THE COWARD). Leaving Galahad alone against three experienced veteran psykers of the Consuls. Fearing naught, he charged into the fray, deflecting psychic powers with his strength of faith and his blessed armour, and proceeded to single-handedly slay all three detestable psykers with his Black Blade.
This was a great victory, as it marked the collapse of the Consul's offensive on just about anything.
Or a great loss, nobody really knows what the hell the Black Consuls are doing here.
Galahad is the holiest warrior of the Crusade, always leading the charge and slaying enemies with impunity. Other exploits of his include standing alone against four tactical terminators of the Ultramarines, and winning, and leading the charge against a part of the Black Consuls veteran company, resulting in the deaths of five of their assault terminators and another librarian (which he slew in single combat), and the reclamation of their wargear.
At this point, even the Ultramarines have decided to leave him a wide berth.
[Fun fact: The actual Ultramarines player, while highly competent, is now permanently afraid of the EC.]
