Ok so I've started looking at building an army list for Caledonian Revolution in July and I've got 1850pts to play with. My restrictions are:
‘Come the Apocalypse’ Alliances can be made and Special (Unique) Characters will be allowed.
You may select 0-1 Super Heavy Vehicle or Gargantuan Monstrous Creature per army UNLESS the Detachment comprises completely of Super Heavy Vehicles or Gargantuan Monstrous Creatures.
Forge World is NOT permitted.
Only battle forged armies may be taken.
You may form your force from a maximum of 4 detachments. These can be any combination of detachments or formations as permitted by the main rules.
The new ‘super formations’ like Craftworld Warhosts and Necron and The Adeptus Mechanicus War Convocation all count as a single Detachment for the limit of 4.

The only other thing to bear in mind is that I do not own even a single Eldar Jetbike. (I have 3 Vypers though) - I know - Crazyness! Who'd take Eldar without Windriders these days.... *cough* that'd be me then.....

The list I'm looking at right now is below, I'd appreciate any constructive feedback, I want it to be at least semi-competitive whilst retaining some fluffyness haha.

Craftworld Warhost Detachment:

Guardian Battlehost:
Farseer - (Singing Spear) 105
10 Guardians - (free weapon [Eldar Missilie Launcher]) - 90
Transport1 Wave Serpent - TL Scatter Lasers 115
10 Guardians - (free weapon [Eldar Missilie Launcher]) - 90
Transport2 Wave Serpent - TL Scatter Lasers 115
10 Guardians - (free weapon [Eldar Missilie Launcher]) - 90
Transport3 Wave Serpent - TL Scatter Lasers 115
1 War Walker - 2 Scatter Lasers - 60
1 Vyper - 1 Shuriken Cannons, 1 Scatter Lasers - 60
3 D-Cannon - 165

Heroes of the Craftworld:
Autarch - Fusion Gun - 80

Engines of Vaul:
3 Falcons - 3 Shuriken Cannons, 3 Scatter Lasers, 3 Pulse Lasers - 405

Aspect Host:
5 Fire Dragons - Exarch - 120
5 Fire Dragons - Exarch - 120
5 Fire Dragons - Exarch - 120

Total 1850pts

You know what, this list seems very cool and fluffy. I don't think I would change anything except for perhaps the Vyper taking two scatter lasers instead of one of each just to uncomplicate things.

The Wave Serpents however, I would take bright-lances over the lasers. I find that they are much better as supporting fire with the vyper and walker. They have the capability of easily killing a terminator each turn for just 5 extra points. They are much better for taking off that one last hull point of vehicles as well. (this is assuming that you ould also combine fire with the falcons) But that is just a personal choice that seems to have worked for me. Lasers are still powerful so whichever you are more confident in taking.

With the Falcons, scatter lasers were better because of the laser-lock rule. however since then, it feels like a waste if you are shooting at an armour 13 vehicle which is why I would take brightlances instead but again this is a personal choice.

I think it is quite good that you did not take the wraithknight in this list because it seems that people always take 'anti-warighknight' units now so it gives you a surprise factor I think.

Really do like the list and can see how well it would do.

This is the closest I've come so far to being happy with it but still feel like I might be losing some firepower out with it.

Combined Arms Detachment:

HQ 1: Autarch - Fusion Gun, Warp Jump Generator, Scorpion Chainsword - 93
HQ 2: Farseer Skyrunner - The Spirit Stone of Anath'lan - 130

Troops 1: 10 Guardians - Scatter Laser - 105
Transport 1 Wave Serpent - Shuriken Cannon & TL Scatter Lasers 125
Troops 2: 3 Windriders - 3 Scatter Lasers - 81

Heavy Support 1: 5 Dark Reapers - Exarch - 140
Heavy Support 2: 3 Falcons - 3 Shuriken Cannons, 3 Scatter Lasers, 3 Pulse Lasers - 405
Heavy Support 3: Vaul's Wrath Support Battery - 3 Vibro Cannons - 90

Lord of War: Wraithknight - 2 Starcannons - 335

Aspect Host Formation (+1 BS):

5 Fire Dragons - Exarch - 120
5 Fire Dragons - Exarch - 120
5 Warp Spiders - Exarch - 105

Comes to 1849pts.

The basic strategy being Autarch is Warlord, joining Warp Spiders. Warp Spiders and Fire Dragons deep strike in the Falcons. Farseer Skyrunner joins the Windriders and goes for Invis for the Wraithknight. The Dark Reapers, Vaul's Wrath Battery and Wraithknight sit as far back as possible shooting anything they can. The main weakness I can foresee is anti-air as I only really have the Dark Reapers for that.

I don't think the Spiders can go inside the Falcon. I don't have my book available, but I thought a Warp Spider was Bulky. However, they can still deep strike on their own.

What do Vitro Cannons add to the list? In your list, I would think a barrage would be a better fit to get at cheap troops sitting out of LoS.

You are correct, I'd forgotten about Jet Pack Units being "Bulky". That's a shame. I can put the Dark Reapers in their Falcon though and Deep Strike the Warp Spiders separately to the Falcons but they'll scatter now.

I was taking the Vibro Cannons as long range S9 AP2 guns for popping armour but I suppose I could switch them out for Shadow Weavers but I've never had much luck with them as S6 is kind of lame.

I'd disagree that str 6 is lame. Three of the most competitive units in the game are Scatter laser jetbikes, warp spiders and Riptides with HBCs, all of which rely on str 6 shooting. If you spam it, it gives you the sweet spot - wounding everything in the game and taking out light vehicles well too.

With the speed of Warp Spiders, I would not worry too much about Deep Strike. They can also start on the table and move into position very quick.
