I have a tournament coming up and I wanted to run a first draft of a list by you guys. This tournament is only CAD and Allied Detachments (no formations, alternate Force Orgs, etc.), no Superheavies, and only one ally/extra CAD.

CAD

HQ
Vulkan He'Stan - 190 Points (Goes with the Honor Guard)
Librarian - ML 2, Force Sword, Combi-Melta, Meltabomb - 105 Points (Goes with Sternguard)

Elites
Honor Guard - 2 Power Axes, 2 Power Swords, Relic Blade - 145 Points
Sternguard Veterans - 2 Meltaguns, 3 Combi-Meltas, Drop Pod - 195 Points

Troops
Tactical Squad - 4 Boltguns, Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod - 139 Points

Tactical Squad - 4 Boltguns, Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod - 139 Points

Fast Attack
Land Speeder - Heavy Flamer, Heavy Flamer - 50 Points
Land Speeder - Multi-Melta, Multi-Melta - 70 Points

Heavy Support
Land Raider Redeemer - 240 Points
Devastator Squad - 4 Lascannons, Armonium Cherub - 155 Points

Allied Detachment

HQ
Bray'arth Ashmantle - 265 Points

Troops
Tactical Squad - 5 marines, Combi-Flamer, Flamer, Drop Pod - 120 Points

Fast Attack
Drop Pod - 35 Points (For Bray'arth)

The plan is to park the Devastators on a backfield objective, put Vulkan and the Honor Guard in a Land Raider, and have everything else drop pod in. Turn one will have Brayarth, the Sternguard, and one of the Melta Tacticals to take out any heavy armor and create too much of a nuisance so the Land Raider can move up the field with impunity. The other drop pods and Land Speeders will drop in on the next few turns to reinforce the first wave.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

I didn't think you could ally with yourself if it is the same Codex and Chapter Tactics? Could be wrong though.

You are right that normally you can't. The rules for this tournament though are allowing it however (I assume to offset the fact that we aren't using any formations or alternate force Orgs)

First thing i looked for if you were running a competitive salamanders, was the sternguard drop pod trick.

Make sure you abuse that, because you can roll it one of two ways, either all combie meltas, or combie flamers, really nastey to drop that right on top of your opponates big unit then thurn it into a pile of goo.

To many unpainted models to count.

Its one of the oldest cheesyist moves in the game, and salamanders do it best
