I'm entering a tournament this weekend, its a 1250 point, single CAD, with a mandatory named character if the codex used has one.

Captain Sicarius (Named Character) 175

Honour Guard Squad (With Sicarius) 170
4 veterans
1 company champion
Drop pod

Terminators x 5 175

Devastator squad 130
Lascannon x 2
Multimelta x 2

Devastator squad 130
Lascannon x 2
Multimeltax 2

Tactical Squad x 10 175
Drop pod

Tactical squad x 10 175
Drop pod

This is my list so far, its 1130, so leaving me 120 points to play with, i'm looking for some feedback as to what upgrades i should be investing in. Any feedback regarding changes in what already there i am open to as well, this will be my first tournament so i'm not sure what i'm walking into. Thansk guys!

I love to see Ultramarines lists!!

1- One worry is mixed weapons in your devastator squads? If you're going to have 4 lascannons, put them in the same squad. Unless you expect your opponent to rush vehicles into the 24 inch range for your Mulit-meltas (unlikely I think), the MM will not be as useful when paired with LC.

2- I love Multi Meltas for mid-field control, but I usually put them in Tac Squads with Drop Pods or Rhinos to get them closer to the opponent's lines/vehicles.

3- Why Sicarius? I don't question the wisdom of taking him, but I mean, do you have a plan to use his special rules that are keeping you from kitting out another captain or going cheaper?

4- What upgrades (weapons etc) do you have on your tactical squads? They need SOME good weapons such as plasma, melta, flamer, heavy bolter etc.

I would consider dropping a devastator squad and beefing the other Dev squad up to 10 marines. Then split them into 2 squads and use your extra points to bring in a Ironclad dread in a drop pod. THAT baby will give your opponent something to worry over turn1 while the rest of your force gets into position to win you the game. Be careful where you drop the ironclad. Don't drop in front a Astra Militarum unit with 4 melta guns! Adeptas Sororitas are a similar danger (if anyone plays them in a tourney).

Mixed weapons was just for the cheaper shot, could be done with missle launchers, 160 points for lascannons seems like a lot.
Multi meltas on the tacticals i like, drop them mid field, combat squad and send the rest on their way.
Sicarius, i couldn't agree more too expensive for the low point game, but the tournament rules are a named character if you have one, he has a 2+ 4+ which i am a fan of, a little weary of Tigirius for his lack of an invulnerable or 2+ armour
Is the reason for 10 man devs to protect the heavy weapons?
Also point wise i imagine i would be losing either the hounour guard or the terminators to allow for 20 devs/ 20 tacs, which would you lose. (maybe even both if i wanted that dreadnought)

IIRC you can infiltrate a tac squad with Sicarius' rules. That means you can cut out one of your drop pods and add some bling to a tac squad.

Yeah don't mix the lascannons and multimeltas. I'd advise against 10 man Devs too. Only reason to do that is if you're short slots and want to combat squad a 10 man mixed weapons dev squad into 5 man squads with the same heavy weapons.
