So a friend and I are having a small 40k match to kind of get back into the swing of things after a length break to play x wing.
Now we've had one or two matches and Ive used my tau but now we want to play a smaller game with our new armies hes fielding Crons and I want to use my daemons, just a friendly game so doesn't matter who really wins I hear crons can be op so I doubt im going to win with what I have but I need list help to at least give a solid game.

Now what he has is the start collecting cron set and an extra box of warriors and a Night Shroud im not sure what his lord loadout is but he says his points come out at 970 or so can't recall exact number so i need to hit within that range. I have a get collecting box for nurge and a get collecting box for khorne as well as a daemon prince. Could use some advice on what best to do list and build wise. I know with him having a flyer and me no real anti air im not going to win I just don't want to be tabled turn two.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

A demon player suggesting necrons are OP!

If he brings the Start Collecting formation, called retribution phalanx, then you're in for a challenge. You have two primary targets - the overlord, and the stalker. The overlord is difficult to use effecively in the formation, since he doesn't want to be in either his scarab or warrior blob (he doesn't want to lose combat and be swept!) but he doesn't want to be alone either. Make sure you have something fast that can go and hunt him quickly - AP2 weaponry is good here. The second target is the force multiplier stalker, which you'll need to kill quickly or those warriors will receive a buff throughout the game.
