Hello all, looking form some advice from some Necron players, Just bought a Necron army from a buddy, that is mostly unassembled, but cleaned and such. Anyway I want to try to build the best force i can from, what i have. Still trying to familiarize my self with the codex as not many in my area actually play crons. Im looking more for advice on things that will synergize well on the table. I have been looking at some of the formations and they look really good but I dont have all the models for some of them. Here is what im working with, Any suggestions would be appreciated or insites because necrons are MUCh different from my normal slash and burn playstyle.


I don't have many HQ's

3 necron lords.

150 warriors (at my best count they are mostly unassembled.)

3 Ghost archs

9 oldschool Wraiths.

3 Spiders

Maybe enough Scarabs to make 25 or so bases?

30 Flayed ones

12 Destroyers (not sure if there are lords or anything in that, again all unassembled)

1box of Immortals

1 Box of death marks

I think thats it.. Its mostly a HUGE box of cleaned Necron's that are not built. but got it for SUPER cheep! Any advice on what to make of this mess would be awesome, as wella s what I might want to pick up to round things out.

Definitely have some options with the parts supplied!

A few thoughts:

1. The HQ issue isn't too big a deal, Crons don't live or die by their HQs typically.

2. The MASSIVE amount of warriors you have available can make for some really fun blob spams, take a look at the Triarch Stalker model, and the +1 bs it provides to models near it!

3. The Flayed ones I don't see brought too often currently in my local meta, but I think they are SERIOUSLY underestimated in my area. They have the ability to be extremely nasty in close combat!

I would pick up the codex and take a good look at the formations listed in there. Decide if you want to go with a Decurion list, or a standard CAD (the benefits of Decurion are huge, but it does restrict your lists to a certain extent).

Yeah, its alot different from the Marines and Chaos im used to. But that was why i picked them up. I have looked at the formations, And From what i have it looks like I would just need some tomb blades to have a reclamation legions, and could make a destroyer cult(I think that's what it was called?) or Cnoptic Harvest fairly easily. Buty i wasn't sure how those where playing these days. Like i said no one in my area really plays crons so i haven't seen how they are doing. I know a few years back Necron Decurion was all the rage, but i didn't know how those lists where doing. And I don't usually like to net list to much. Was more looking for what units are and aren't working on the table these days, or suggestions or tactics. I usually play a very aggressive game with my Chaos and with my Marines, but I have gotten the impression Crons don't really play that way.
