Greetings,

I know that Word Bearers must take a second compulsory HQ, and it is states that it must be a "centurion or a chaplain".

Centurions are listed as having the special rule "consul". So my question is if you take in a consul role with a centurion do you cease being a centurion, or are you still a centurion serving a consul role?

I'm trying to understand if a diabolist (a word bearers specific consul) meets the requirements for the second compulsory HQ?

To reiterate: when you make a centurion a specific consul is he no longer a centurion?

If you make a Centurion into a Consul he ceases to be a Centurion and becomes what ever the Consul is instead.

You either have a to take a basic centurion with no consul upgrades or a centurion with the Chaplain consul upgrade.

I would recommend just taking the Chaplain as Zealot can be pretty awesome with a bunch of CC troops like Gal Vorbak.....not to mention you can kit the Chaplain out however you want as the crozious is just a power weapon type of choice...which also means since you are WB you can convert a power weapon selection into a tainted weapon if you want.

Word Bearers always need at least 2 HQ choices, one of which needs to be either a plain Centurion or one upgraded to a Chaplain.

Don't forget that Erebus counts as both a Chaplain and a Diabolist. Similarly Kor Phaeron and Zardu Layak both count as Diabolists.
