Pretty simple really. I want a 1k list to begin with for alpha legion. I've come up with these two so far but I feel like they probably suck. Any ideas on which is better and what I need to do to make them viable?

List 1:

Age of Darkness FOC

RoW: The Coils of the Hydra

HQ:
- Autilon Skorr - 125

Troops:
- Legion Tactical Squad - Rhino - 185
- Legion Tactical Squad - Rhino - 185
- Legion Tactical Squad - Rhino - 185

Elites:
- Tyrant Siege Terminator Squad - 5x Chainfists - 320

--1000

Autilon Skorr Joins the Tyrants. Other than that, pretty self explanatory.



List 2:

Age of Darkness FOC

RoW: None

HQ:
- Legion Centurion - Artificer Armour, Power Dagger - 65

Troops:
- Legion Tactical Squad - Rhino - 185
- Legion Tactical Squad - Rhino - 185

Elites:
- Lernaen Terminator Squad - Spartan Assault Tank (Armoured Ceramite, Flare Shield) - 565

This time the centurion joins the lernaens.

Which is better and how can I make either of them not suck? If theres no hope for either of them, please suggest something else for 1k of alpha legion.

they both look fun: remember that in 30k there really is no sucky list as it's a fluffy game where every option has a use (excluding rotor cannons )

as for the first 1: doesn't everyone need transports/ to infiltrate?

They all need to either infiltrate, deep-strike or have a transport from memory, but that doesn't matter as I can choose for everything to gain infiltrate per legionnaires astartes: alpha legion.

Also, I will be playing with a few people at my local gw who tend to play nasty as possible so I'd like to make sure I have a good chance of beating them; hence trying to make the lists "not suck".

Spartans at 1k points could really seriously just ruin someone if they haven't built their list expecting it! I would roll with that list if you have people at your local who love to run nasty lists all the time.

Ok so I was looking around google at some other low points level lists for alpha legion and got some ideas. I've now got this. Is it any good, and more importantly, does it fit the fluff?

Skorr will of course be joining the terminators in the spartan.

is it fluffy? no. You're bringing one of the legions most veteran captains 'supported' by ~10 shmucks and a few terminators

as for the list itself: you're vet. tactical squads will die way to quickly (especially if they are holding heavy flamers, they will do little to no damage before they die off), and any decent player will just let you're expensive death star charge something useless and then counter charge. I'd either wait and up the points a bit, or go a bit more fluffy/less reliant on the spartan and build something fun rather than faux min-maxed.
