Hey mates. After being forced to sell my IG (Still have a bunch of Forgeworld Cadians to sell) due to life, I am currently planning ahead for when I get the opportunity to start up an army. While Space Marines are a top option for obvious reasons, I am tempted to go the Xenos route for the first time and I am considering the Eldar. Reason being is that I have always liked the Dire Avengers, both model and unit rule-wise, and I have always wondered if running a Mechanized List with them would be effective. List would consist of at least 4x Squads of Dire in Wave Serpents, supportEd by other units such as Jet Bikes, Knights, Flyers, etc. Is this effective for Eldar? Not looking for anything super competitive but I would like a list that is strong and can hold its own .

Dire avengers in wave serpents are very solidly good. They always pull there weight but never feel super powerful, which is probably the right state of balance especially for a troop choice. I would just about always take them as part of the dire avenger shrine formation for that extra ballistic skill. 3 units of 5 in wave serpents has never done me wrong.

Taking the wave serpents as the dedicated transports in the dire avenger shrine also makes the wave serpents BS5 allowing those heavy weapons on top to rarely miss. Drop those dire avengers off to claim objectives or use the wave serpent in a more offensive tank role. Be sure to upgrade the underslung shuriken catapult to a shuriken cannon for those extra heavy weapons shots.
