I currently own some 40-50-ish Warhounds that I use as Flesh Hounds, and I want to run them with my Renegades to give them some speed.

Right now Chaos Daemons and Khorne Daemonkin both have ways of bringing masses of Flesh Hounds through formations, both with their pros and cons. SInce Theorycrafting only goes so far, I would like to hear people's thoughts on which formation is the best/most competitive, and most complimentary to Renegades. Note that I'm talking about the Gorepack and Murderhorde formations independently of their "Decurions", so no blood tithe or warp storm advantages. I also don't want to add a lot of bikers or bloodletters, so I'm focusing mostly on the Flesh Hounds here

Let us have a look at the pros and cons.

Gorepack Pros:
-No Instability, pretty big one in my book
-Chaos Biker as "tax" can add a fast Meltagun delivery
-Hammer of Wrath for a bit more damage output
-Pref.Enemy psykers is potentially very good if Librarius Conclaves become even more prevailent with the new SM powers.

Gorepack Cons:
-Can only take 4 units of Hounds
-Bikers can be expensive. If we view the bikes as a "tax", we could get 9,5-ish hounds more for the cost of the 6 bikers.

Murderhorde pros:
-Heralds can be either a very cheap "tax" or kitted out with a Juggernaut and Loci providing good buffs for nearby units. If we view all non-Hound units as a tax, the Murderhorde is cheaper than the Gorepack.
-You get twice as many units of Hounds as the Gorepack. Great for objective grabbing and MSU-favored missions
-Easily available extra attacks from being close to other Units

Murderhorde cons:
-Daemonic Instability
-Unless you invest some points, the Herald quickly becomes even more of a tax unit than the Gorepack Bikers

Have I forgotten any pros or cons? The way I view it is that which is better depends on the missions you will be playing. The Murderhorde is best at objective games, but the Gorepack is better at kill points. Outside of this though, which would people generally run to include 40 puppies?

Always Gorepack. Bikers are simply the most non-tax unit you can ask for, as they easily add plenty of Plasma Guns or Melta Guns when you need them.

Gorepack is way better than murderhorde.
