I got an idea and picked up the starterbox and the codex. And i am making a 1850 list to start with
The list contains most fun stuff i can think of without getting too many models on the table.

A large box of tricks:
veil of darkness jump
Zahndrekh warlord trait pick and choose
Zahndrekh USR steal
solar staff trick
redundant +1 RP
ress orb + eternity orb
Ghostwalk mantle
Szeras buff til warriors
diviner reroll 1+ saves... Obyron or Zahndrekh makes a wonderful tank.

take all characters and throw them with the wraiths... veiljump fast forward. Good thing is that the warriors and scarabs will die and spawn 3" from this star (properly in opponents deployzone or something)

Is it over the top, or just pure madness and will never hold against most armies

++ Necrons: Codex (2015) (Formation Detachment) (1850pts) ++

+ Formation (1850pts) +

Canoptek Harvest (450pts) [Canoptek Spyder]
····Canoptek Scarabs [8x Canoptek Scarab]
····Canoptek Wraiths [Canoptek Wraith, Canoptek Wraith, Canoptek Wraith, Canoptek Wraith, Canoptek Wraith, Canoptek Wraith]

Retribution Phalanx (720pts)
····Canoptek Scarabs [9x Canoptek Scarab]
····Overlord [Phylactery, The Orb of Eternity, Warscythe]
····Triarch Stalker [Heat Ray]
····Warriors [20x Necron Warrior]

Royal Court (680pts) [Illuminor Szeras, Orikan the Diviner, Vargard Obyron]
····Cryptek [Staff of Light, The Veil of Darkness]
····Lord [Resurrection Orb, The Solar Staff]
····Nemesor Zahndrekh [Warlord Trait: Eternal Madness]

It's madness. #1. The characters can't keep up with the Wraiths, so you're stuck moving 6" per turn, #2. Your Spyders can't give your Wraiths reanimation protocols if the Wraiths are mucking about your opponent's deployment zone making Orikan and the Res Orbs useless, #3. You hinder the death Star by deep-striking all over the place, facing mishaps and not allowing you to charge. #4. 20 Warriors is hard to remove. I would surprised if they ever got the chance to re-spawn. If they do re-spawn, where are they going to go? 20 Warriors are hard to place with terrain, very bulky Wraiths and your opponent's models taking up table space.

This list is terrible. It has way too many tricks and absolutely no synergy. I'd be willing to bet that you'll forget half of your special rules by turn three and it's going to take 30 minutes just to explain your army to your opponent before the game. You're starting out with Necrons. Keep it simple and build from there.

Well, you where right. Played the list yesterday and i got pwnd like a Noob in pokemon. I thought the list had some potential but as you said i was going all over the place and mishapped on veil. Yeah. Rolled a 2 so my opponent placed my wraithstar out of range of anything else and just in front of his 2 imperial knights. Ouch got stomped to oblivion plus 2 x 9 swarms are totally overrated. Not fun.

I liked the canoptek harvest rules thou.

My next project is to paint immortals + tomb blades so i can field an reclamation legion.

Only fun thing was my husband ROFFLING all the way home. He likes when i loose
