I mean, the obvious answer here is "to everyone I hate", but what do I do if I get one in return? Is there a particular moderator/admin that I should contact, or will any moderator be acceptable?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Any of us.

The PM system subject to the same restraints as the open forum. We don't go about policing it regularly because (1) it's private and (2) to delve into it takes up a fair bit of technical admin time.

That doesn't mean we ignore complaints about rude PMs and so on.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

In many cultures, a PM full of ASCII nude selfies are a sign of love.

Admittedly, they're all cultures I just made up, but still.

I got the wrong end of the stick. Sorry about the dick pics.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

If its a case of someone just generally being an a-hole to you via a PM, the first step we're going to ask of you is to just stop replying to them, and to even stop opening/reading any PMs they send to you. its probably best to also 'ignore' that user on the forums as well. Doing those two things will usually stop the issue 99% of the time.

However, if they somehow keep PMing for weeks despite no response from you, or the contents of the PM are incredibly vile (like threats of bodily harm, racist slurs, etc.) then definitely let a moderator know.

Either way, just telling a moderator the name of the user doing this is a good idea so we can put it into their user case file so we can spot when there is a pattern of this type of behavior.
