For the purpose of this discussion, I will be ignoring the 'Death from the Skies' book as I do not see my local area getting into that yet.

I want to discuss if anything has changed from the new FAQ. Previously, the thought process has been: CHE for anit-air, Hemlock for everything else
Now that Blast with Skyfire can hit Flyers/FMCs, is the above still true? Or is the Hemlock now the better option?

Are 2 "D-1" blasts better than 4 BS5 str8/AP2 shots (2 w/ Lance) that re-roll to armour-pen Flyers?
I have been using the CHE in every list since 7th dropped and have found it useful, but not always needed. The Hemlock, OTOH seems like it could really be MVP

I like to take Crimson Hunters in pairs, or even three for the formation (which is sweet). That lets you sweep the skies and gives you enough mobile Bright Lances to pound ground targets. I don't like solos Crimson Hunters as it feels like they struggle to do their job - two is more than twice as good as one.

The Hemlock is more of a sucker-punch unit, taking advantage of fleeting enemy weakness and supporting your ground troops. It's better off solo, as it's there to help other units so you want it to be cheap and flexible so you don't feel the need to plan your strategy around it.

Only taking one flyer? Take a Hemlock. Taking more than one? Take Crimson Hunters.

Madness is however an affliction which in war carries with it the advantage of surprise - Winston Churchill

Well with the current changes to psychic shriek not requiring roll to hit the hemlock can cause some serious mayhem on the field. I am not taking into account either the Death from the skies book since I find it kind of mehhh.

I will also agree with Saber, on taking Crimson hunters in pairs. They seem to fair better when not alone and never change the brightlances to starcannons on them.

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

I go with the Hemlock, and see very little reason to go with the Hunter now that the FAQ change has dropped. It's got a much broader range of good targets.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Well, I only own 1 Eldar/DE flyer (Razorwing model) magnetized with a wide variety of weapons. I don't plan on ever getting another, so I guess I'll trick it out to be a Hemlock. Thanks for the feedback gang
