Ok, so mainly I am looking for the farsight enclaves formation, but really just want to know what to buy to have access to the most formations possible.

I currently own the current codex, previous codex, and (previous?) Farsight Enclaves supplement?

Is the only other book with formations the Kauyon book? What does that book actually have in it? Does Mont'Ka have any Tau stuff or is it all white scars?

Just so confused on where the different rules and formations are.

Kauyon contains the rules updates and formations from the current codex. And Mont'ka contains the updated Farsight Enclaves rules, And their formations.

The only thing the new Farsight book does is allow FSE armies to use warlord traits and sig systems from Tau Empire. Anything else is already contained in the new codex, Kauyon and Mont'ka.

Kauyon repeats lots of things from the base codex, but adds rules for separate pieces of the tidewall rampart.

Okay, so assuming I don't care about the tidewall rampart, the only thing I need to buy is Mont'Ka if I already have the current codex?

Let me see. . .
Kau'yon has Hunter Cadre, Retaliation Cadre, Heavy Retribution Cadre, Infiltration Cadre, Optimized Stealth Cadre, Firebase Support Cadre, Armoured Interdiction Cadre, Air Caste Support Cadre, Allied Advance Cadre, and the Tidewall Fortifications.

Mont'ka has Counterstrike Cadre, Rapid Insertion Force, Ranged Support Cadre, Piranha Firestream Wing, Ghostkeel Wing, Skysweep Missile Defense, Ethereal Council, Drone-net VX 1-0, Riptide Wing, Air Superiority Cadre, The Eight, and the most recent printing of the Assassin Detachment (which, BTW is the same as the one printed in USWD 65)

Farsight Enclaves OTOH has; Dawn Blade Contingent, Hunter Cadre, Retaliation Cadre, Counterstrike Cadre, Rapid insertion Force, Ranged Support Cadre, Piranha Firestream Wing, Firebase Support Cadre, Skysweep Missile Defense, Air Superiority Cadre, Allied Advance Cadre, Drone Net VX 1-0, The Eight, and access to both FSE AND TE Signature systems.

It should be specifically noted that ECPA is ONLY available (on riptides) to O'Vesa, and only available if you take the Eight.

Okay, so there is Mont'Ka in ADDITION to a new farsight enclaves (the one I own must be 6th edition as there are no formations)?

Thank you VERY much for clearing this up for me carldooley.

Very much appreciate the amount of detail in your post!

Sad to see ECPA go. It was fun while it lasted!

which is what makes the riptide wing so popular. For zero points, each riptide in the wing can reroll nova rolls. (among other things)

Ya, I can definitely see that, unfortunately the riptide wing is a little too much for the casual games that I tend to play.

Still, if I ever wind up in a tourney, I will most DEFINITELY be using that!
