So.

I'm trying to get back into the hobby after 2 editions of doing other things.
My choice has fallen on the Imperial fists since I really want to tackle a yellow army.

I am not so sure what is good or not but I am trying to build a half decent army, not necessary a broken mess.

The army is rather easy. A Battle Company, a Skyhammer and some anti air.

Captain: Power Axe 105.p

9x Tactical Marines: 126.p
Drop Pod 35.p

5x Tactical Marines: Razorback, Twin Lascannon 145.p

5x Tactical Marines: Razorback, Twin Lascannon 145.p

3x Bikes 63.p

3x Devastator Centurion: Lascannons 210.p

10x Devestator: 4x Heavy Bolters 180.p
Drop Pod 35.p

10x Devestator: 4x Heavy Bolters 180.p
Drop Pod 35.p

5x Assault Marines: 85.p

5x Assault Marines: 85.p

Hunter 70.p

1499.p

So. Turn one will see 30 imperial fists marine deep striking into enemy territory. Hopefully be able to deal with infantry and some medium tanks. The Heavy Bolters will fire at s6 due to tank hunter to maybe pop some light or glance a medium tank as well.
I have 5 twin linked las cannons for the heavier tanks, 3 with s10. The Captain will join the drop podding Tactical marine to give them some close combat support.

What do you guys think? I have also heard somewhere that you can have an Imperial fist you can take a formation that lets you re roll all bolter shots, not just 1's. Is that something I should go for?

Are the podding Dev squads Relentless? If not, they won't be able to fire on the turn they arrive.

Yes they are relentless due to Skyhammer

"The urge to begin fisting" - has no fists...

Couple things. You could use the Sternhammer Strike Force to get some cool benefits for your Bolters. This would boost the power your Devastators. Twin-linked Bolters for everyone!

But how exactly are you taking that Hunter tank? Unless this is an Unbound Detachment, you can't just take one out of nowhere.
