I'm a total noob and just picked up a couple of Start Collecting Space Wolves and the SW half of Stormclaw. I also have an incoming order of 3x Razorbacks and 3x Land Speeders. I've read a little of the codex and the rules. I'm really interested in the Wolf Claw Strike Force with The Ironwolves as my Core. Hope you guys can help me with ideas/lists. thanks in advance!

As far as Land Raiders go, depending on what you plan on doing with them you will want the different variants. The standard LR kit only comes with the Lascannon version. If you are using them to pop tanks then lascannons are great, but if you are using them to deliver terminators then you might want a Redemer. It has more carrying capacity and has 2 flamestorm cannons (S:6 Ap:3 templates) that will mess up any MEQ squad. With power of the Machine spirit you can hit 2 squads and then mop up the rest with whatever you have embarked. Thunder wolf Calvary is great but can get expensive quick. When taking them always take Stormshields, Thunderwolfs are scary and will draw a lot of fire so you need that 3++ invulnerable save. I would look into the Blackmane strike force (I think that's what it is called) that allows you do drop 10 drop pods on turn 1. I also recommend you get a Stormwolf for an anti-flyer. The thing is like a flying land raider that can hold 16 guys inside. The best part is that is is an Assalt vehicle like the land raider. Bear in mind that I haven't looked at the new update for flyers so you might want to do some research. If you have any questions then feel free to ask. I hope this was helpful.

New update for flyers hints at non-fighter flyers losing skyfire... ouch.

Thunderwolves are awesome. They do a lot on the table, but if put through hard challenges will eventually wear out. If you play them carefully, yes breaking heavy squads, but not completely throwing them at the very meanest CC at the table, then they'll do you good til the last drop. I personally find storm shields arent necessary accross -every- model, but 2/3 is decent for sure. Look Out Sir rolls to redirect the shots, and placing the proper models so that they absorb fire before others, saves points better spent elsewhere. I definitely feel using fenrisian wolves or if using an iron priest on Thunderwolf Mount, going cyberwolves, really helps to mitigate double-toughness/instant-death shots via lookoutsir instead of risking a failed save.

The Starter box is great tho! Nice purchases, there.

Looks like you're going for an "elite" list, Land Raiders, terminators, TWC, and yea the Iron Wolves are great, I run them. Redeemer's are amazing - ensure anything that can eliminate your land raiders are taken out, then they'll stomp the whole game long.

May I suggest, if you wanna be mean, going librarians via the Librarius Conclave, and trying for invisibility? Perfect way to keep your massive unit(s) safe from harm.

Hope you enjoy the Wolves, I very much enjoy playing them as well as assembling them too
