I like the list.
gaunts are usually simply a waste, but as an opponent I like the swarm feel.

Thanks :-)
I love the swarm feel as well, maybe drop the scarabs for more?
As I want to take the FW units and the extra Elites I cant fit it into a single CAD. I play tourneys that wont let me duplicate a detachment and it must be battleforged.
Is 4 Synapse enough do you reckon? Automatically Appended Next Post: There is also something I have been wondering...
Deathleeper or Lictor?
If I could fit in the extra HQs and the points were not too much of an issue

Deathleaper is not so good right now- his Leadership ability isn't very useful. He's usually just an expensive Lictor.

I think the difference between 3 or 4 Lictors would be more of a personal playstyle choice. I don't have a 4h Lictor, so I'd have to go with 3 myself.
I should note your synapse seems a little lite for the list- once they focus down your Malanthropes your 2 Flyrants can't be everywhere. Perhaps you might find room for another Synapse source or two.

Been a bit busy, thought I would revive my list
What do you reckon is the better sources of Synapse? I am leaning towards maybe a Tervigon as I don't much like Warriors

A Tervigon would definitely give your opponents a decision to make with target priority. You've got quite diverse threats, and not too many people want a Tervigon to keep spawning units onto an objective or in their backfield(if it gets there). Automatically Appended Next Post: Of course if you want another melee unit to advance up with your Stonecrushers and Dimaecharon you could use the Swarmlord with Tyrant guard for protection. You'd have to shuffle around quite a few points though.

if you just want to fill the troops to get an additional CAD why not use mucluid spores?

Interesting, then they would simply be a tax?
Can spores score objectives? Probably a stupid question I know...
Main reason for using the Gaunts is that I already had some gathering dust. Did buy my first Tyrant last week as I will definitely be using it, nothing built or painted yet so still got time to make changes

How about swapping the Dimachaeron for Zoanthrope broods?
The Dimachaeron seems really expensive for a unit that's not actually that fast (so a canny opponent can often stop it from seeing combat much, and I generally get the feel it isn't worth it's points when I play against one), and Zoanthropes would provide both ranged anti-tank and synapse.

yapp... although its hardly a tax at 30 points, considering they could simply block or blow up stuff and nope no scoring... i'm just asking because you already got 30 gaunts total so why not put a troop tervigon (instead of dimacherion) in the list?
then ditch the 10 hormas and the rippers for two mucloids and save alot of points, which you can then invest in some zoans or venoms or some devourerd for the gaunts?

The Hive Fleet detachment requires 3 troops
The troop tervigon is cool for objectives. With thus list it looks like I can almost fit in a CAD...
Just the Elites that spill over (if the fexes become a single unit). What elite formations exist? I know of the Deathleaper one for lictors, but is there one for thropes?

why do you need a hive fleet detachment? couldnt you just use a 2nd CAD?
there is the lictor forest brood. although its 5 in one unit (gain shrouded and can infiltrate up to 6" but only if deployed in a forest)
you can put three fexes in one unit for a Carnifex Crusher Brood (gain IWND). but thats apocalypse
the thropes one are too big to be of ANY use...
1 maleceptor and 3 zoan broods with neurothropes as leaders (gain 18" SitW and can reroll warp charges of 1's)
well if you absolutly need a third troop... you can always throw in another mucloid

Sorry, should have said earlier. I like to build to a local tourney spec. No repeat detachments :-( my bad
What about the one that gives poison and instant death (tyrant, toxicrene one I think). Had any use of that or is it too expensive ti be considered any good as well?

hmmm the toxicrene.... seriously... just get another spore / small gaunt mob or deepstriking rippers i think the only viable formation for tyranids aside apoc size ones, is the living artillery node. but that doesnt really fit your list.
