Hey there!

I'm no Space Wolves Expert but a friend of mine asked me to help him build a list.
I don't want to give him a cheesy tournament wolvestar list, so I tried to build a good and reliably force that can be expanded if need be.


The Deepstriking Troops are supposed to keep the enemy buisy while the Wulfen and the Thunderwolves move ahead.
Both units can be fast and devastating.
The Speeders are a mobile Backfield unit and jack of all traits.

The Terminators in the Troops units help keeping them alive a bit.


he already bought on eBay:

- All the troops seen below (except the pods)
- 1 landspeeder
- 5 Terminators, but IMHO wulfen are better for the points while being almost as tanky. (3++ & FnP). Now he can use them for his troops

The wulfen are a good unit, but why are they footslogging? Even with run and charge they'll take a while to get up the board. Also, I find that with the great frost axe trading 1 str for unwieldy, compared to claws, it isn't worth it. For the claws and hunters, there can only be 8 in a pod because the wolf guard leader is bulky with his terminator armour. And for just the bloodclaws, maybe consider flamers instead of melta because of their low BS. For the thunder wolves a fist and a hammer is probably a bit much. It's usually useful to make one wolf just plain with a stormshield so he can eat the wounds while the important ones stay topped up. For the land speeders I find HB never really do anything but harass so I think a multi melta would be better, especially paired with the typhoon.

Oh, and the wolf lord, grey hunters, and thinderwolves form a formation where the hunters can reroll 1s to hit in the shooting phase if within 12" of their lord, and the wolves can run and charge if within 12". So that would be good. You're also very close to a great company from the COTW book, so maybe think about that as well.

You are right about the Space in Drop Pods, thanks for pointing that out!

How would you deliver the wulfen?
The Great Frost Axe is S+3 AP2 Reaping swing, I dont think that is too bad for the points!

Oh, no wulfen weapon is bad, (and I thought they were str +2, woops) they're some of the better melee weapons out there, it's just that I like the claws more for the higher init. The only cheap transport I can think of is drop pods, if you're buddy can stand painting and assembling any more of those . you could go the land raider or stormwolf route, but that would be 750 points, so it's not really an option. So maybe slogging is their only option unless you can squeeze some more points out of the list.

The wulfen can only select a Stormwolf as dedicated transport.
So they cannot start the game embarked in any other transport, right? That would mean no Pods. They could use landraiders though if you deploy them next to each other and embark turn 1

While they can't take them as DTs, you can still buy drop pods from the Fast Attack slot and put them in there. Remember, it doesn't have to be a DT for a unit to ride in it, for example I could buy a land raider from the heavy support slot, and put GH in it.

And if you use the deathpack formation, you've then got 2 slots opened up and you can buy 2 pods for 2 wulfen, then maybe a land raider or stormwolf for the third?

Oh right I mixed that up, its the other way around (No other unit can enter a dedicated transport)

I like this list a bit more now that the wulfen will be an immediate threat rather than one that will be whittled down. Quick question though, what will the priests be rolling on? Divination is pretty good. Just curious. This is a pretty decent list imo, don't really have much to add. Maybe others do though,
