So I have been playing Imperial Assault a bit lately, and it got me thinking: How hard would it be to convert it from a grid based, puzzle piece style game to a more natural terrain based Inches & dice game? It seems to me that it would be fairly easy, since its currently played on a 1 inch grid system, and the minis are already on a 1 inch diameter base, turning it into a warhammer-esque game could allow all the fun of terrain and the simplicity of a throw and go game.

Thoughts?

Should be fairly straight-forward to convert. Might need to think about how to implement Line Of Sight rules.

A guy on the FFG board did just that, so they could play 100+pt battles. The one thing that stood out to me was that they doubled the range or accuracy. And he said they probably should have stayed with a 15'command card limit.

So each die result is doubled? idk how I feel about that. I mean, sure, for some characters it makes sense, but for others, idk. did it work well for him?

I was thinking of doing it the same way 40k hands it: use a laser pointer or a laser line. The line determines if you have cover, and the pointer determines if its total or partial. Partial adds +1 to the required accuracy (maybe +2, I think I may need to play test this), total cover means no line of sight.
