I've heard rumors of a 3 book formation for skittari, mechanicus and imperial Knights? - does anyone know anything more about this formation, such as how to locate it, (is it new book, wd, in box, etc)?

Adeptus Mechanicus War Convocation.

1 Skiitari Battle Maniple
1 Admech Congragation
1 Oathsworn Detachment

Don't expect to earn any friends playing it, though. I plan on building one, too, but it's considered one of the prime offenders of the flaws in the war formations have been handled by GW.

So reading this:
It requires an oath sworn detachment from imperial Knights (the basic one that goes under the old force org chart)

Also the cult mechanicus battle congregation (same as Knights, 1 hq 2 troops, no restrict)

But the 3rd the skittari maniple ... The formation says it needs "skittari battle maniple" but the one under the same place as the force org chart simply says "skittari maniple" - and requires 2 troops.

So, I'm assuming to field the war convocation I need:
1 knight of any kind.
1 mechanicus hq
2 mechanicus troops
2 skittari troops.

But why in reading forums and such everyone says the formation requires "1 of everything"?

Clearly a disconnect here.

Skitarii Battle Maniple is not the same thing as Skitarii Maniple. The datasheet for the battle maniple formation is later in the book.

What I'm wondering is the other 2 factions need the "basic" formation listed first under the force org chart. The skittari break that trend by requiring a more "advance one"

Wouldn't it seem logical that all 3 are intended to only require the base formation, and that the requirement for the "battle maniple" is a typo?

Edit: also to further my argument: the photo of the army in the formation includes:
Knight,
1 vanguard, 1 ranger, (skittari)
1 tech priest dominus, 1 breacher unit, 1 destroyer unit, 1 each of the electro variants, 1 crawler, and a robot kastelean.

Missing (from what should be mandatory from skittari)
- rust stalkers
- infiltrators
- dragons or iron striders.

Why would the formation require those units, and NOT have them in the photo, instead showing optional units.

I submit the data sheet for the battle congregation is actually supposed to be a knight oath sworn detachment, the skittari maniple and the cult mechanicus battle congregation. NOT the skittari battle maniple. + others

I doubt it since it's been printed as is in a couple different places iirc. I think your way would be better honestly, but that's not what GW created.

So then Why have the photo not match the formation? Every other formation I've seen that has a photo - it has all the required units, and that's it. Not optional ones, and not missing units. The battle congregation is missing a big chunk of its "required models"

Those are the ones I found with a quick Google search. Every single photo inc In the formation has the required units, and not a single optional one. Does it make sense that trend would break here? Or rather a simple typeo

It's possible that they carried over "battle" by mistake to the skittari section. So instead of "skittari maniple" (as the to should be) they put it as "skittari BATTLE maniple" mistaking the more complex one for the intended basic one.

I think this is more then me just wanting an easier formation. I think it's a mistake gw didn't catch yet, or have and not fixed. But all the evidence supports.
