So my main opponent is now playing Nurgle daemons. He's very competitive and actually pretty good. I'm trying to build a decent pure ravenwing list that I can take to tournaments but also that could beat him. Let me know what you think.

Ravenwing strike force

HQ - Interrogator chaplain, bike, mace of redemption warord
HQ - Librarian, lvl 2, bike, force axe, auspex - librarius discipline.
HQ - Librarian, lvl 2, bike, force axe, auspex - geokenisis discipline.

Elites - Ravenwing command squad, 6x black Knights including apothecary and Ravenwing banner

Fast attack - 5x black Knights
Fast attack - 5x black Knights
Fast attack - Ravenwing bike squadron, 4 bikers, 2 grav guns
Fast attack - Ravenwing bike squadron, 4 bikers, 2 grav guns
Fast attack - Attack bike, multi melta
Fast attack - Attack bike, multi melta
Fast attack - Attack bike, multi melta

Formation - Ravenwing support squadron
Dark shroud, no upgrades
3x land speeders, 3x HB & TML.

1850 exactly.

Looks like a pretty solid list to me. Only thing might be to find a way to get a second Darkshroud in there. Maybe drop one Black Knight from each of the two 5 man units.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

drop one of the three HQ.

Black Knights work best in small units of three, sometimes four. Maybe you can buy a couple more models and field four units of three or three of four. Keep the command squad six models of course and consider a Champion.

With a 100% Ravenwing force, consider another darkshroud. the darkshroud within the support squad will want to stay 48" away from anything that could make them jink.

Also if your format allows Forgeworld vehicle upgrades, there's one called "Battle of Signus Prime" that provides Furious Charge to all marine units within 6". This is perfect for a Darkshroud.

Demons are a difficult matchup for ravenwing, especially if they're swooping. Consider a Culexus assasin to help even the odds, or even a Dark Angel Librarius Conclave with Ezekiel.

Thanks for the replies.

Why would you drop a HQ out of interest? They've done a lot of work for me in that combo. I'm just curious.

I've ran Knights in groups of 3, and they seem to fall over quickly. Out of interest, why do you think groups of three are better?

And a another Darkshroud seems to be a popular option.... so I think I'm going to have to try and work a second in.

Also, I've found the champion to be poor. Even at 5 points. There are times where I have desperately wanted my chaplain or Libby to fight the challenge, and I've HAD to issue or accept with the champion even though I haven't wanted to. Normally means a 45 point model then gets slaughtered in a fight that one of the HQ's could have won. As I say, has been poor for me.

I saw these forgeworld vehicle upgrades such as the "Battle of Signus Prime" but what are they and where can I find more info on them?

I play Ravenwing against KDK, and yes, daemons can be a tough match. I like bigger groups of Black Knights as well, since you WILL have to Jink at some point, and you want to be able to use Overwatch to some degree with a heavy volume of fire.

I like Ravenwing Assault Squads with TML Landspeeders and grav bikers, but my opponent has lots of mech. I also like Technomancy to gun down those same vehicles. As I want to avoid CC against KDK and all their AP 3 Hellblades, I run three Libby Bikers. Sammael might be something you could consider, though I find him overrated.
