I struggle to find time to play full games of 40k, even small points games. My regular opponents have the same problem. So I've been looking at scaled back options. There's Kill Team, Combat Patrol, One Page 40k, and other fan created variations. These all sound great. As another option, I was pondering a game with just HQ's. An "HQ Slugfest" of sorts. Or HQ gladiators. Something like that. Here's my idea:

Limitations: 5 models max. No duplicates allowed. No vehicles. 1 named character max. 4'x4' board.
Duration: 5 rounds.
Game Options:
-Purge the Alien (as in 40k rulebook)
-The Relic (as in 40k rulebook)
-Defuse the device (One side defends, the other tries to defuse.)
-Get to da Choppa! (Evac mission. One side tries to stop the other.)

I'm sure this sort of thing has been done before, so if folks have ideas/suggestions, or can point me at a previous example I would appreciate it. I also remember seeing some talk of dreadnought gladiator combat. That sounds fun too!
