Subject: AoS: Where to start?

Hey all,
So after considering it for a long time, I've decided to delve in and play some AoS. I've already got hordes of daemons based for 40k, so I suspect I'm beginning in a fairly good position. However, where do I actually begin with all of this? What books do I need and how do I start to build an army? The only caveat would be that it must be based to daemons to begin with, but I'm happy to build and paint new stuff as time goes on.
Give me some direction, please!

Obtain the AOS app. It has all of the rules for all of the models.
Obtain the Chaos Grand Alliance book. It is a hard copy of all of the models for Chaos.
Download the four page rules for the game for free.
Recommendation: obtain one or more of the narrative campaign books or army book of your liking to get scenarios.
The default scenario is awful.
They also contain Time of War rules which are extra rules for the area you are fighting in (so rules for the realm of fire, life, death, etc)
Recommendation: obtain the black library Chaos mini campaign as it has the time of war for the various chaos realms as well as some cool scenarios.

Seconding the Alliance: Chaos book and app/free rules. If you want to play different scenarios but don't want to shell out for a campaign book I suggest visiting the comps for free battleplans that will work even if you don't use the rest of the comp/points. I know PPC and SCGT comps have some battleplans to use.
Unsure if Azyr comp has battleplans outside of the really cool campaign system they have. I think auticus can answer that one better though
Welcome, and hope you like it!

We do have scenarios actually
www.louisvillewargaming.com - go to the resources tab. Download "Azyr Empires" and the appendix that are up there.
Azyr Empires is a 290 page resource campaign system. We are starting our summer campaign with it saturday.
The new appendix coming out integrates Silver Tower into the campaign as well.
We have a facebook community as well (facebook search Azyr Empires)
There are missions in there among the quest chains for the character progression paths.
Also seconding Attilla - you can get the scenarios from the app as well (you pay for them but you don't need the entire book... however I like the book because it has the narrative fluff behind everything)

I just looked athe ressources at the louisvillewargaming.com site - Holy crap that's looks pretty awesome, and like a ton of work has gone it making all those campaign rules and what nots.
Maybe the fan-made campaign rules and all the extra stuff there have been available for a while, but it's the first time I see it, and I definetly want to look into it some more.
Thanks for sharing!

If your just starting, id sit on it a little while more. GW either June/July is releasing a huge book for AoS with point costs for everything.
I tried out the system above shortly after AoS came out as a way to try to balance. Its nice, but slowly it still got boring.
With all the changes and over all improvements with GW lately, im holding out to see what the new points book brings or if the games really dead.

Thanks. Its been a lot of work yes but in the end definitely worth it. There will be regular updates on the campaign progress for any that care to read about it as well. The Silver Tower integration should be a lot of fun.

Just remember if you do buy the Alliance book, ALL the stuff in the book, sorry I mean war scrolls can be gotten FREE of GW site. So if you only want the war scrolls and don't want it in paper format, you have no reason to buy it then.
I bought them since I like having a paper book that is very well reasonably priced. You may not want it since you can get it for free.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
