Hey there Dakka, I've been wanting to pull out all of my dire avengers again and try out the dire avenger shrine's 'killing strike'. Anywho, here's the list:

Seer Council:

2 x Farseer -----240
Skyrunner and Singing Spear

5 Warlocks -------270
Skyrunners and 4 Singing Spears

Dire Avenger Shrine:

10 Dire Avengers -----140
Exarch

Wave Serpent ---- 135
TL Scatterlaser, Ghostwalk matrix, Underslung shuricannon

2 x 10 Dire Avengers ----260

2 x Wave Serpent ---- 250
2 TL Brightlance, Ghostwalk Matrix

Aspect Host: +1 BS

2 x 5 Warp Spiders ---- 210
Exarch

6 Warp Spiders ---- 124
Exarch

CAD:

Farseer --- 100

2 x 5 Rangers --- 120

Total:1850

***********************************************************

So I'm hoping the strong psychic presence from the seer council will help make the best of the killing strike ability; just like in 5th edition. I know I don't have much long range fire power, but I couldn't find the room for it.

How competitive is this? How do you think ~30 dire avengers can be best used competitively?

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments

I like the theme but if you are really going for the Dire Avenger army, why not use the Asrumen?

The seer council is a bit overkill with 5 Warlocks. 3 Should be enough.

I would say, strategy wise, hope you dont go against any armoured armies like Imperial Guard because you dont have very much to deal with that....

But otherwise, you need to move the serpents up and deploy them as late as possible in the game unless you have a perfect opportunity or you desperately need to. Meanwhile, the council needs to be avoiding your opponent and the spiders you could either use as distraction and harassment by deep striking behind enemy line and sandwich your opponent with them and your Avengers OR you could start them on the board and harass that way and if they get too close, deploy the avengers to back them up and using the Council to buff your shots by using guide and prescience, perhaps doom if you roll it etc.

I would normally agree with this statement, but alas the Seer Council requires 5 warlocks minimum.

As much as I think Scatter lasers are a good choice for the Serpents (personally I prefer Shuricannons on top & bottom), I think your list is in need of more anti-tank and all your serpents need Brightlances. The Spears from the Council are nice, but you don't always want to be close enough to use them.

You are correct on this one too, I have never actually used the Seer council and so I thought it was 3-5 Warlocks for the conclave.

With Serpents, I take all of them with Brightlance and Shuriken Cannons so i would agree.

Thanks for the quick replies!

@farseer of angau -- Asurmen is pretttty expensive and probably the least effective pheonix lord.

@Galef -- Good idear with the brightlances; I switched the list to 2 brightlances and 1 scatterlaser on the serpents.

-- I would love to take shuricannons on the bottom of my serpents but the ghostwalk matrix gets much more mileage for the points.

UPDATE--- realized I was 30 points off on the original list so I had to drop a couple of warpspiders to even things up, luckily this left me the points to add a shuricannon to my scatterlaser serpent.

Any ideas on how to get 15points to add the spirit stone of anath'lan?

Well, the list isn't that competitive in the first place, so I thought you were aiming for the Fluff aspect rather than something your trying to win a tournament with.

I looks like you want to still dominate the psychic phase at the expense of fire power. 33% of your points are directly in psychers.

Just for a differen take...

Asurmen and autarch with banshee mask. 295

3 Wave Serpents w BL and spirit stones and holofield 420
1 x 10 dire avengers exarch w SS and PW (this is for both HQ to attach to)
2 x 10 dire avengers 420

So 1135

3 x Falcon w BL Stones and holofield 465
3 x 5 Dire Avengers 195
1795
1 x Vyper with Brightlance for 50 leaving you 5 points to burn on possibly a chainsword for the autarch.

The reason for the stones is with only 7 models, you don;t want to lose fire to stunned or shaken. Holofields so you can avoid jinking as much as possible. 3 TL Bright lances 4 bright lances and 3 pulse lasers is a lot of S8 AP2 fire and all with a stand off of 36". What you give up in psychic you make up in not presenting any squishy eldar to risk death until you feel like dismounting and unleashing 135 shots at a minimum of BS 5. I truly don;t care if your target is invisible if is T isn,t too high nothing is going to survive 100 + hits averaging 16+ AP 2 wounds

Asurmen gets 3 warlord traits so how about Ambush of Blades, An Eye on Distant Events wih +1 on reserve rolls and Fates Messenger or Seer of th Shifing Vector in conjunction with the Cloud Strike of the Falcon Squadron. He can hold his own in assault if their toughness is not too high so other than demon princes and the sword of Azur means even Abaddon doesn't look forward to fighting him.
