Wanted some army building advice. I am planning for a tournament that only allows one formation and no decurion type list. So it has to be a force organisation type chart with a second formation if wanted. There can be no more than two sources for the army, and no double detachments and armies only from the same faction, so no eldar and tau.

Anyway, I fancies trying out ravenguard for this event, which isnt for a few months. I like the idea of their high mobility, strike from the shadows army. I am not sure how competitive it is in this setting but wanted some advice about which formations would most complement the CAD that I would have to take.

I was thinking a minimal CAD with a battle demi company for obsec power. Or a CAD with one of the skyhammer formations (annihilation or orbital) or CAD with shadowstrike kill team or CAD with an assassin (i think this would be the most fluffy.)

Is ravenguard a viable tournament chapter tactic or is this just pie in the sky?

I don't think you need a demi-company if you have a CAD.

Without the Talon Strike Force available, not sure how much better it would be as opposed to White Scar Chapter Tactics and access to Hunters Eye.

But, I have not seen anyone play a non Decurion styled Ravenguard army.
