Hi

With Drop pod Vanguards being FAQed, I was thinking something else to use as distraction amongst enemy lines while my Army moves slowly into battle, or Destroyers get into a nice place to start shooting their grav guns.

What do you guys use for distraction? I have tried dragoons but haven't been very succesful with them.

I was thinking about allying Ad Mech with another Imperial army to plug fast attack/distraction. Here are the options I was considering
2 x Legion of The Damned ------8x Legionnaire, (1x Melta Gun, 1x Heavy Flamer), Sargeant with Animus Malorum
Or
Sky Hammer Annahilation formation ---Haven't decide how to pimp it out yet. It could force some units to go to ground which would allow the main army to get in to positon more safely.

Thanks

Skyhammer is good with almost anything. Imperial Knights are good fire magnets too.

I like using Scions as distractions - they can deep strike, they get access to the fantastic Vendetta flyer (Vector dancer + twin-linked punisher cannons at BS 4 against ground targets is just insane), and they can be quite cheap.
Otherwise, Scout bikers ftw

Vendettas have three sets of twin-linked lascannons.
They're also BS3.
Scions also do not have access to the Vendetta variant in the Militarum Tempestus book. It's Valkyrie or burst.

The Vulture Gunship(which you're seemingly referring to; specifically there's an Elysian variant of all the Vulture/Valkyrie variants as BS4 in one of the books. IA3 or IA4; can't recall off the top of my head) is a hot mess, with its latest incarnation being heavily overpriced and twin-linked Punisher Cannons being a 50 point upgrade.

In any regards, you have a lot of things to work with in Skitarii.
USE YOUR SCOUT MOVEMENTS.
Too many Skitarii players forget about this. You have army wide Scout. Use it!

Dragoons work but you need a decent size group of them, like 3 or 4. They are cheap, they are fast, they have Shrouded and they are immune to Bolters.

And, they wreck stuff if they can get into cc.

Or you can arm the Dragoons with the Radium Jezziel getting in those extra long range shots. Especially if you roll sixes. Iron striders and Sicarian's while not classes as fast attack all have Dunecrawler which means they move like madmen. You could probably charge Ruststalkers and be melee in round two. Oh an they get scout and crusader in your skitarii maniple.

I use scout all the time, it helps a bit with Dragoons but the problem is I play mostly against Tau or Elder. So they have to charge through the whole army while trying to survive. And hit/run is also very annoying So I have not been imperessed with Dragoons or just using them wrong

I am looking for smt they will come in and deal damage immediately

Assassins are your friend then.

Bring in two Callidus Assassins or two Culexus Assassins, depending on who you're fighting--or a mix of the two.
