Subject: 2,500 pt. Death Guard - (Loyalist) Semi-competative
Hi all! Here's a bit of a list I'm working on on the more 'competative' side of things, still a rough draft and hopefully still fluffy for the DG as well.
Spoiler:
+++ DG - "Competative" (2505pts) +++
++ Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List (Age of Darkness) (2505pts) ++
the medicae and Mortug run with the Deathshroud squad, with him popping Endurance every chance he gets, as well as him using his WT to get the army up the field a bit faster.
Grave Wardens attempt to eat charges, and the phosphex melts anyone who happens to land in the general area (may swap out for a medusa or two)
The seige breaker runs with the missile launchers, and the tactical squads move up the field to either grab objectives, or just be a durable nuisance.
It's pretty obvious what the general idea/threat is: the 10 terminators with 2 wounds, one hell of an FNP, eternal warrior, and LD: 10 w/ Stubborn
My 2 cents: I could do with a little bit more AT, though tanks are not really common in my local meta (mostly dreads, one player may bring a Land raider on occasion) and AA isn't needed quite yet (only 1 flier locally). There is the mechanicum threat to think about, but the terminators + phosphex should be good to deal with most that... hopefully. One thing I was considering was dropping the medicae and combining the grave wardens to bring a Praetor w/ the reaping to make CC even more one sided . The big problem for me is wanting to stay pretty fluffy, so I'm gonna try and avoid transports for the most part, as well as "faster" units for the sake of still looking 'Death Guard'. Another option is dropping some models and trimming out 200-300 points to bring a detachment of Militia just to be able to drop another 40 models onto the table, though I'm iffy on that Idea as I would probably just drop the tactical squad sizes down a bit more and go Auxilia instead.
Any thoughts?
I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Not to nit pick, but if you are going for fluffy, then you shouldn't really have deathshroud in a Loyalist force, being that they are supposed to be the hand picked body guards of Mortarion, with no other allegiance or agenda.
Otherwise the list looks pretty fun. Take the Reaping ROW and stick those missile launchers in your troops selection so they score.

Jokes on you Deathshroud were also the bodyguard of many commanders as well, and as such would have also had a good chance of pulling their more loyalist tendancies.
as for the reaping, I considered it and am heavily leaning towards that Idea now, actually, I'm just not 100% sure on it yet.
