Hi people. So I'm a big KDK player but one of my friend is trying to convince me to start 30k, Word Bearers especially. I was wondering what I should buy yo start correctly, and how I should organize my army for a small beginning.

Thanks for the answers !

What do you think looks cool? Start there. For organization, look at the Rites of War and Special Units.

The above page is also a good place to check out to get a feel for the Armies.

Betrayal at Calth is a fantastic way to start. Two of them will get you 60 marines, 10 terminators, two dreds and 4 special character models. It's the best bang for your buck imo.

"I was never a Son of Horus. I was and remain a Luna Wolf. A proud son of Cthonia, a loyal servant of the Emperor."

Recasts are like Fight Cub. No one talks about it, but more people do it then you realize.

if you LOVE MK IV go for BAC, if not, save up and go for another armour mark. the 'best' BAC build, IMO is:

1 set:
HQ
1 praetor (either HQ model)
1 centurion (either HQ model, you will NEED a chaplain and a diabolist as a word bearer)
TROOP
2 15-man tactical squads
ELITE
5-man terminators
1 contemptor

2 set:
HQ
1 Praetor
1 centurion (chaplain)
1 centurion (diabolist)
TROOP
2 20-man tactical squads
5-man support squad
ELITE
10-man vet. tactical squad
2 contemptor talon w/ kheres + fists
FAST ATTACK
10-man seeker squad (or other such 10-man squad)
HEAVY SUPPORT
5-man heavy support squad

Both of those lists fit nearly any legion, give you easy room to expand, and don't kick you in the shins like PotL would.

Beyond that, 30k is more a game of 'build what you want or what you think looks cool' as opposed to 'bring the best'

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Totally agree, this is how i started. betrayal of calth is great value, also you get word bearer transfers if you did want to collect them.
