if you're in the Champs of Fenris book, use the Relic AP2 sword on one of those WGBL's... one of the best relics a CC model can have, hands down

hehe i like a LOT the use of the Lone Wolves in TDA w/ Chainfist. great stuff there! definitely share how they work for you, please =)

double character dread - such space wolf.
I've done it with Bjorn and a Blizzard Shield Vet, and it works great - if placing the front AV's properly, and when assaulting AV making sure they'll have proper facing after that AV is eliminated (cuz they can't consolidate).

I've used Iron Priest 'stars', 3 with 12 pups, and they've themselves eliminated 1k points of ravenwing by themselves, with 2 IP's still standing and running around some more.
maybe get some pups for the two WGBL's so you'll have 8 dogs in total, should suffice.

throw Helm of Durfast on that Runepriest if you're going tempastus, for some amazing living lightning

Callidus is something I've been looking at too.
For Sure.

Sadly tho, you need another elite choice to make your CotGW legit.
Lone Wolves do not count - and in fact cannot be used unless you have units like blood claws or grey hunters which for each squad allow you to use a Lone Wolfe.

pulling a WGBL won't break you, and after figuring out how to get a legit Lone Wolfe inclusion, you may work it out better

I think you'll need something to either deny the enemy a ton of shooting, or the speed to hide them charge without receiving that firepower.
the Herald perks make one tough... but idk if you'll be tough enough on that alone. Somehow, gotta get more board presence and 'threat' to divide up what'd otherwise be "focus all firepower on their super star destroyer" which'd drop your Star to it's knees =/

More Iron Priests and more Cyberwolves! Very good idea! Now it gets tricky. I was so sure the Lone Wolves could be used as elites. But you are right, they don't count in this instance. Their loadout may be a bit flawed because it is difficult to get them deepstriking into melta range, so maybe Storm Shield or Plasma would be better. Their Chainfists main purpose is to freak out the enemy when they land next to a tank. I like to play the "Shock and Awe" game. But I think this works as well when the opponent has two Dreadnoughts and an Assassin in his face right from turn 1. This should draw fire from the Death Star. Which is good, because those high strengh shots might insta-kill units from the Deathstar. If the enemy still is focussing on the Deathstar, Dreads will tear things up turn 2. Maybe a unit of Wolf Guard Bikers plus dual Claw Pack Leader and some better equipment instead of the Ven Dread. This would mean only one Dread at enemy lines which is a huge drawback, but will probably be better at the objective game.

Also do you think anti air would be nesessary?

combi on TDA is super cheap, wouldn't be perhaps smart to miss out on that, but I am fond of SS myself - hehe unnecessary but hilarious. Especially on an FnP dual wounded Eternal Warrior like this guy. Chainfist... spells doom to ANY THING.

my answer to instant-death/S10 (my best friend throws vindi squadrons at me every time i play him haha, he once wiped out 26 space marine models in that single larger blast!) is to have Look Out Sir rolls to the puppies, and make that character rolling it have a SS of his own (preferably the pack leader of the TWC than the WGBL/Lord - just in case).

Wolf Guard bikers, meh... i mean it's not *bad* but they are a ... hmmm... "Shock and Awe" unit lol. I used to drop them 7-count with plasma and have Ulrik in the squad to grant reroll 1's. it WAS M E A N. then they've been spent, their scare-factor gone, and are counted as the same priority as normal Marines for the rest of the game. If the points are worth it to you, then cool beans yo. i've found more power than these for the pts.

I like two dreads... however you gotta really be careful about how you place them.
Place them to -live-. then, when it's later game, they stand out as Kniggits do the early game.
well, almost haha.

i mean, definitely get them in there, CC is where the belong.
But it's as easy as crushing an empty can as it is to crush a Dread, but once they meet CC that unit is done. Then, hopefully, you'll get another charge out of them before they fall.

I've been thinking it through a lot now and while seizing at effectively 3+ really is great, it is also too many points spent on models that aren't very durable. Half the points are eaten up by Heralds, Björn and Callidus. As I have yet to get most of the models, I guess I'll go with a rather usual approach for now:

2x Iron Priest /Thunderwolf, Tempest Hammer
+4x Cyberwolf

WGBL /Thunderwolf, Runic Armour, Krakenbone Sword, Storm Shield

2x 4 Wolf Guard Bikers /4 Meltabombs
+Pack Leader /Dual Wolf Claws

2x 4 Thunderwolves /Wolf Claw, Power Fist, 4 Storm Shields

Lone Wolf /TDA, Wolf Claw, Storm Shield

Gotta have GH or BC to gain the choice of a Lone Wolf (chainfist all the way IMO hehe).

New FAQ isn't fully official but is is being played, says only a single grenade (including meltabombs) can be used per unit each phase.

I see some points that could be better spent, all models having SS's, dual wolf claws. That's just me

Herald is tough, for sure. But yeah, its borderline good, however IMO on the opposite side of useable.

You have no option but to meet CC.
That might not be a bad thing, however you'll need to put on your dancing shoes, cuz it's a very involved process to not get all shot up. Even overwatch can sting when doing it enough.

If you can avoid their fire, and meet your goals, then sure - it will work.

People like lascannon dev's cuz they're easy to use, always do a good job cuz they have something good against anything with exceptional range to do it in.

I personally don't like heavy weapons teams, but I want to express it'll be a thing to continue squeezing out the potency of each unit turn by turn.

That's all part of the fun that I enjoy in SW =)

Lone Wolves are per troops, WG and WGTDA. About the dual claws .. one additional attack is nice, but invulnerable is critical in more situations. The downside is, you paid for nothing when the opponent brings the Thunderwolves down by dakka, but then the Wolves are not automatically doomed by Demolisher-esque pie plates.

The new FAQ ..hm, I read about that. The thing with grenades is sht. But it looks like Spear of Russ will allow Demolishers to move 12" then fire ordnance. What do you think about this?

685 points: Iron Priest, Land Raider, 3x Vindicator
All barebones.

I see your point about Heavy Weapon Squads. Personally I love to field small units of Long Fangs. They sometimes survive the entire game and cause lots of attriton or draw enough attention off the important units ...but often enough they are just bull, vaporising in turn 1.

Well, I'm pretty sure about this core army.

CotGW

2x Iron Priest /Thunderwolf, Tempest Hammer
+4x Cyberwolf

WGBL /Thunderwolf, Krakenbone Sword, Storm Shield

4 Wolf Guard Bikers
+Pack Leader /Dual Wolf Claws

4 Thunderwolves /Wolf Claw, Power Fist, 4 Storm Shields

It comes at 975 and requires another elites choice. What do you think about Wolf Scouts? They can get a Wyrdstorm Brother up the table or electrodisplace.
