Hey all, I am struggling with two lists for 1750 ITC rules
Each player’s list mus contain either a combined arms detachment (CAD) or their respective army based detachment and a maximum of one additional formation
No Formation based detachments and no allies.
Don't actually own Hornets and I'm toying with the idea for War Walkers.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
list one:
HQ
Farseer
Eldar Jetbike, The Spirit Stone of Anath'lan, Witchblade
Warlock Conclave 2x Warlock with Witchblade
D-Scythe 5x Wraithguard
Wave Serpent Holo-fields , Shuriken Cannon , Twin-linked Shuriken Cannon
Windriders
3x Scatter Laser
3x Scatter Laser
3x Scatter Laser
3x Scatter Laser
Hornet Squadron
2x Pulse Laser
2x Pulse Laser
2x Pulse Laser
Wraithknight
2x Heavy Wraithcannon
Aspect Host
+1 BS
4x Warp Spiders with Exarch
4x Warp Spiders with Exarch

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
List two:
HQ

Warlock Conclave 2x Warlock with Witchblade
5x Wraithguard with Scythe
Wave Serpent Holo-fields , Shuriken Cannon , Twin-linked Shuriken Cannon

On the shelf:
2 Night Spinners/Fireprisms
5x Scorpions with Exarch
3 Crimson Hunters
1 Hemlock
1 Farseer
1 Autarch
1 Eldrad
ANY help would be great...

not to sound too snarky, but why do you need help? you have 2 lists built: 1 that is mostly net list + some hornets, and 1 that's basically the 'expected' eldar list, with an extra unit of fire drakes instead of a unit of spiders.
They are both strong, and they will both do stupidly well against most armies.

Brennonjw,
That's not too snarky at all! You offered an opinion mate about the lists, which is what I want!
I'm looking at the lists and am trying to see what the thoughts are with the Hornets, or go for Walkers... You see I have neither and would have liked some idea if it was worth going for them, or look to other weaponry?
Also, the Wraithknight on one is without shoulder weapons, wouldn't have minded some feedback on that... Sword or Cannon? etc
Then there's the internal debate as to what formation should I take? Aspect or a Flyer one... ie CD or Shroud of Kurnous...
Aspect: Have Dragons or go all Spiders?

Hornets with Pulse lasers throwing out 4 S8 Ap2 at 48" range for 80 points is very strong, I've invested in 9 of them and have had to cut them from my lists entirely for anything that isn't an amazing list, they are great and are more durable with their jink and extra movement.
I prefer the Wraithknight with Ghostglaive and Scattershield, it's effective with fortune, has more reliable damage output and is used more for board control than hiding back with D cannons.

Take it the shoulder weapons then on the Knight if taking sword and board is a must?

If you have the cash the hornets are superior. IMO, the wraithknight is only to have opponent waste his fire on a worthless overcosted POS. If you like it, do the sword and shield and go with survivable aggressive moves to entice him to fire at it. Personally I would dump it for the crimson death formation
Personally give me two or three wave serpents instead of the wraithguard in one. The wave serpents are going to contribute to your firepower from turn 1. The wraithguard are a T3+ Coup de gras unit.
Also you could give up the range and add 1 vyper,,, that way you are running a windrider host and can use the bonus shread with all you shuriken weaponry,

JFC wrote:Wraithknight overcosted POS? I honestly don't know if you are being serious! Don't agree with it being undercosted but I understand the sentiment. It's a very cheap gargantuan creature with I5 and some nasty Stomp/D Slap attacks but for all the power it has at such a cheap cost... it's still 295 points sunk into a single model with an incredibly hard counter (grav/ Stormsurge D missiles). The problem is that not all factions have this amazing counter meaning it's all but invincible for some armies and potentially a liability against some others. Personally, I've dropped the Wraithknight from my competitive lists for multiple Warp hunters that have a lot more firepower on more platforms. The wraithknight having diminished returns compared to other units is certainly not a thought that many Eldar critics would agree with, but as Martel said: It's not the Wraithknight that's the problem, it's the scatterpacks.

You only got one part right... The wraithknight will cause your opponent to waste his firepower on him but your opponent is gonna do so because the wraithknight isn't a worthless overcosted POS. Claiming that is almost delusional

It's great for table control, can take a beating and can dish out a fair bit of damage but even for it's cost I don't think it's the absolute best use of 295-325 points...

what do you sweat. 4 hornets putting out 16 S8 shots 10--11 scatbikes putting out 40-44 S6 shots or 2 D weapons? Unless you have good luck rolling 6s I would chose 1 or 2 the only thing the wraithknight gives you is an obvious target that you hope your opponent targets. I may be old school but give me death by 1000 cuts. The only super heavy that puts fear into meis the storm surge.

DAaddict, you make a really good point, hence why I have gone for the Sword variant. Get the 5++ and that should deal with storm surges... it has good mobility?

I agree he is harder to kill and jumping forward forces the enemy to deal with him. Hopefully your farseer can fortune him.
